"
I am sure in all these pages this has been addressed already, but I ain't looking for a needle in a haystack here, but this is two different things she is making into one long statement. She is saying she decided not to extend because of the issues she was experiencing apparently because of her religion. The producers said thst would not promote her for the tony if she left. NOT because of her religion but her choice to leave the show. If she chose to leave for any reason at all, they were not going to promote her because they would want a tony winner that would stay to boost them for awhile. Not someone that would win and be gone a month later. Her reason for leaving and their reason for not promoting her as they did Idina, who had extended, are not the same.

I have seen Wicked 4 times and each time I find the Galinda part cute and funny but Elphaba has more depth...I do know people who met Idina after a show and said she is not friendly or nice..(shy??? I never believe that of any performer , I just don't believe real shy people can perform for thousands and then act shy in front of one ) but some people don't smile easily ..I love Idina and don't stage door anyone because it can lead to disappointment ,..I like the illusion!!! Kristen can say what she feels ...she earned it"
I actually believe a lot of actors are shy. Performing as a character in front of thousands is not the same thing as being yourself in front of a crowd. Actors come in all shapes and personalities, some super extroverted and an equal amount very introverted and private. Certainly Idina isn't the only one who would consider herself shy."
I have the worst social anxiety in the world, I find it difficult to even say "hi" to people irl, but I'm perfectly comfortable on stage, no nerves at all, it sounds very strange, I know, but that's how it is for me.

This is absolutely one of the stupidest topics I have ever seen on this board, no exceptions. KC lost in a year in which there was incredible competition. Other topics have questioned why Tonya Pinkins didn't win? whether Donna Murphy would have won if she had not missed so many performances ( since she may have gotten the best critical reviews in the category.
For my money, Idina Menzel had the lead role in the show, and did a great job with it (and I am not particularly a Menzel fan). Does that mean that she won because she is Jewish? or because more people were taken by her performance than any of the other women in the category?

This whole subject matter is preposterous. Not sure exactly what it is based on-perhaps anti-Semitism? In any event it is insulting to most Tony winners of late. I’m fairly certain Kelli O’Hara, Patti LuPone, La Chance, Patina Miller, Sutton Foster, etc etc are Christian.
Totally unnecessary to even broach topic!

Yes, let's go back 15 years and tell Chenoweth that she didn't lose because she was Christian.

I'm mixed about this thread being resurrected. My first feeling is "why?" but my second feeling was one of nostalgia reading back on those posts from 13 years ago.

I've noticed a certain increased amount of religious trolling on the board lately, both from the atheist/misotheist movement Qolbinau most strongly represents, and from some probably-fraudulent Christian concern trolls.
Maybe it's just the internet being the internet, but with the things in the news these days, I'm inclined to see a pattern even when there isn't a pattern there.

I have read Cheno's quote several times. And nowhere in it does she suggest that the threat to not promote her for a Tony had anything to do with her being Christian. To the contrary, she expressly states that it was threatened as a consequence for her leaving when her contract was over.

Yeah I still don't understand what the hell people think when they say Chenoweth is stating that- she is clearly not. Another example of how people can completely misconstrue a person's words and even the actual point/discussion being raised.
