Regarding that sign with the quote from Roma Torre of NY1 saying "Constantine Maroulis is SENSATIONAL!"--here's the actual quote from the original review at:
The romantic lead, Drew, is a wannabe rock star who falls for Sherrie, an aspiring actress fresh off the bus. The pair, played by "American Idol" alum Constantine Maroulis and Amy Spanger, are sensational.

Definitely altered it a bit, but certainly stayed within the context/spirit of the critic. I wonder if they ever clear slightly altered quotes like this with the critic.
"Correction. He was never signed with Atlantic. If he was, there would be an official announcement. He was in talks with them, but in the end they decided not to sign him. "
Constantine himself said this in an interview on Seth's Chatterbox.
If you have a source other than Constantine, you should provide it.
In other news, Mitch is out tonight. I hope he's not having issues. He's been out a few times lately. Michael Minarik is in as Lonny tonight.
It also appears that by the end of September the cast is going to be a lot different with Wesley and Paul leaving. Their parts do not impact Constantine's part that much, though.
I like the interaction of Savannah and Constantine. They are a good match on stage.

>>>He was never signed with Atlantic I heard he was also. I believe lawyers were involved for him to get out of it. I think C talked about it in a radio interview.
That does not mean he wasn't signed at all. That is just speculation on your part.
Constantine would not have said it on a video recorded interview without there being a basis for it. This is old news at this point, though. It doesn't much matter anymore.
I'm just so happy for Constantine now. He's worked long and hard to achieve the success he has. He'll keep working at it, too.
I'm very happy I get to go see the show this weekend. Love coming to NYC. So much to see. I'm meeting up with some good friends for a weekend of fun that will include going to see ROA.

No, it's just a speculation on your part that Constantine was signed. It does not matter what Constantine had to say about it. It only matters what Atlantic had to say, and they never mentioned his signing - oficially or unoficially.
It's not too far out of the range to know that in the past records companies have signed artist and not followed through for that artist.
In Constantine's case IIRC, the person he signed with, left the company fairly soon after he was signed and no one picked up the project to produce his album. After not seeing any type of effort from the company he hired a lawyer to be released from his contract.
It's not the first time this has happened to an artist and it won't be the last time.
Been giving it a little more thought. He sign on with Grease, but TPTB sat on it, never announced it or gave him a definite date of when he was to join the show? While he was waiting to join the show ROA came along. Updated On: 8/14/09 at 12:22 AM
Constantine even provided the name of the person that signed him with Atlantic during the Chatterbox interview. If that person wanted to dispute the fact he was signed, he could have. He left Atlantic right after he signed C. I do recall we checked that fact out back then and found it was true.
No, I do not have time to watch the entire Chatterbox interview this morning to get the name of the guy. I have to work today and then have a million things to do before I go on my vaca in NYC!

As much as I love Constantine in Rock of Ages, I hope he continues to find the time to also do his own shows. It's been awhile since I've been to one but I'm hoping soon. Joe's Pub will be awesome for those of you that get to go!
I agree. Good questions. He seemed mostly sincere. Although, there was a time or two where I thought his answer was kinda snarky...maybe it is just me and I misunderstood. :/
i've seen Michael quite a bit as Lonny, and I absolutely adore Tad as Dennis.

My question got answered on his ask a star vid!! Woohooo!
I thought he came off as down to earth with a touch of sarcasm/snarky-ness.... but not the bad kind. He seems like a cool guy.

His answer where he said "he's a rock star and you're not" kinda rubbed me the wrong way. What is that supposed to mean? Was he trying to insult the person asking the question? I thought it was a good question. :/
singalongsong2, I just re-watched the video and I came away with him referencing "you're" as himself. Brett is the rock star and he's not, so he's not in the position to question a rock star about an event.
Mine was the very boring "what would you be doing if you we're not acting?" question.... but hey, he gave a good answer that actually made me like him more because he has some really cool goals and such.
