Perhaps "easiest" isn't the right word, but which student rushes right now are usually available later in the day? I'm coming into the city on Saturday afternoon and now that Gypsy isn't around, I don't have a backup plan for when all other shows are sold out of student rush tickets. Are there any shows you can usually count on to have student rush seats available? Thanks in advance!

I haven't done it lately, but I would guess Little Mermaid?

I second MERMAID and CHICAGO, also any of the plays, including AUGUST and THE AMERICAN PLAN (which I highly recommend).

Guys and Dolls should be...who's going to try that one?

You think I could get August in the late afternoon (around 4) for a night show? Everytime I have tried August (anywhere from early afternoon to right before the show), they've been sold out of student rush tickets.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys!
I think since they've moved to the Music Box, August only offers the last row of the mezzanine for student rush, so there is a very limited availability. I think Speed-the-Plow is probably the best bet right now.
I think I might put Shrek in this category. Last friday I went to the box office around 3 or so and got tickets easy.
AUGUST's rush is NOT easy. They only offer 10 rush seats. It used to just be the last row of the mezz, but I did it in September and I got 2nd row, orch, all the way to the right (awful, AWFUL seats). The seats were all spread out that night, so I'm assuming it's whatever 10 they have available that morning.
Shrek sells whatever they have. Very easy, but more expensive. Cheap and easy = The American Plan, which is well worth it.
Speed-the-Plow is easy. Also, Equus seems pretty available.
Speed-the-Plow is definitely a good bet.

I'm thinking of going to see The Story of My Life tonight, their student rush is $20. Does anyone know if this show is worth it? Is it depressing? Any other sure bets for a Friday night for a musical?
The 39 Steps is also quite easy to get in my experience. 20 minutes before curtain only.
A couple weeks ago I got third-row tickets to AUGUST at like 6 pm on a Wednesday.
It's safe to assume almost all of them. Honestly, people aren't spending money. Just be sweet and hopeful. You can sidle-up to almost any box-office now and just ask fowhat's available.
I'm finding more and more box-offices are offering-up prime-seating as student-rush just before curtain. They know it's better to get $25 (rather than nothing) for a $125-seat. I got 3rd-row center orchestra rush ticket for All My Sons at 7:30PM.
It helps to look at a show's grosses before heading to a theatre... and aim for a weekday.
NOTE: Not all of these shows have rush... but sometimes just asking "What's available?" can be a lucky-surprise
SUREST BETS: The 39 Steps, Hedda Gabler, The American Plan, August Osage County, Story of My Life, Equus, Speed-The-Plow, Shrek
SAFE BETS: Avenue Q (lotto), Chicago, Pal Joey
50/50: In The Heights (lotto), The Little Mermaid, Phantom, Will Ferrell, Mary Poppins
AND LONG-SHOT: Jersey Boys, Wicked, Billy Elliot, South Pacific, Mamma Mia, Guys and Dolls

Felt like plugging The Story Of My Life... their rush tickets are only $20, so that'd probably be your cheapest option. And it's a wonderful show. :)
Unless it's calmed down dramatically in a week, I would call the HEIGHTS lotto a long-shot.
Also, when did South Pacific start offering rush?

South Pacific has always technically had student rush. It's just... a long shot.
I wouldn't put Guys and Dolls at long shot though. At least not yet. Only a couple rush seats were sold last night that I could tell.

I got great center mezzanine rush seats for Mamma Mia on Thursday at around 4:30ish.
I got a rush seat(D14) for Guys&Dolls after I lost the ITH lottery, and the show was great!

Does Mamma Mia accept high school id's?
I thought Mamma Mia! didn't have sr. And I think I'm going to attempt the Avenue Q lotto tomorrow but if I lose I was wondering what are some easy musicals to rush that last minute? Does TLM still only take college id's? And I've been hearing the GAD sr seats are horrible is that true?
Thanks
