This warrants a new thread. It's eating too much out of the great comet thread. Just discuss her here.
cynthia is the most inconsiderate and condescending actress, right now. Pont a: https://twitter.com/CynthiaEriVo/status/903000072962531328
calling someone, who was every bit respectable, a child is bullying and should not be supported by anyone in the Broadway community.
what did she do??
I've said everything on the other thread, so I'm just gonna enjoy the tea here :)
Some of the comments she's made about Twitter users who have remotely challenged her involvement in this whole Comet debacle:
"bitter"
"a child...with no knowledge of anything"
"No," in reference to Great Comet drummer Joey Cassata, "no he is not a part of the cast"
"drunk"
"reaching"
"nonsense"
Oh, and my favorite. Here she is thinking everybody would be thinking about her the day the show posted closing: https://twitter.com/CynthiaEriVo/status/895094291655081984
Her performance in The Color Purple is one of the greatest of all time, and she possesses immense talent. But her behavior and involvement alone throughout this entire process has been extremely disheartening and unprofessional.
She's ridiculous and needs to grow up, end of story!

She is MOUTHY. Who'd want that liability?

The drummer is wrong, too, but come on.
Agreed 100%

I agree, that's why I think her skin must be thin. Why else would someone with that talent and success feel the need to engage back and forth with strangers 24/7?

Because she truly believes she has no role in the comet mess. She was only voicing her concerns for the cast after all. But you know, not musicians, just cast members. ??
I also think that social media (and people) have allowed all celebrities become far too important. Following them, has created a false sense of importance -- or perhaps its the importance we want them to have, so we don't think for ourselves.

This is so spot on.
She also giws after anyone who crosses crosses or questions her fashion. She had hilarious (unnecessary) responses to everyone who dared share their opinions. Her flame will fizzle.
Someone on twitter said something in relation to CE about not meeting your idols and I think this is a great example. It's sad, because she's got a lot of talent. She's an Oscar away from an EGOT, no matter how...interesting...the road to get there. That should mean something! I would hope there would be a little more introspection and dignity.
At the end of the day, a lot of people are misrepresenting her tweets as being on par with that effing idiot Rafael Casal's in discussing race. She technically didn't mention race, but her tweets gained traction, and coupled with accounts like Casal's and BroadwayBlack, just inflamed people and I believe led to the early close and cannibalization of a wonderful show. I'm pretty sure the cast beyond Oak would rather she stick her concern somewhere else, which the NYT article backs up when indicating they pled with her to STFU to no avail. So I really have no sympathy for her.
She's in Hawaii and the cast/crew will be out of a job in less than a week. Can't she be a little smarter/classier about the entire situation?

While technically true, it is incorrect to say she didn't invoke race, because she RTd Rafael's tweet that said something along the lines of "imagine if you were a black actor and your producer asks you to leave the show two weeks in". The fact that she RTd the tweet that brings up his race CLEARLY shows her intent. She's just a little more Machiavellian than Rafael, who is really just an idiot.
I have lost so much respect for her over this.

Honestly, what might piss me off the most about her is that she clearly doesn't consider musicians equals to actors (see her "no, no, (Joey) isn't part of the cast tweet).
If she ever gets to a large stage again (and I honestly doubt she will- she's not a huge draw and really just a liability) , I'm sure she'll deal with some unexpected flat notes/changed keys from the band that mess up her pitch (I'm reminded of the Jerome Robbins story where the company just let him fall into the pit without warning).
Well, her own show didn't recoup after a much longer run, and a smaller budget. I don't think she's the star she thinks she is.
Same, PaulWom. The ego.

Thanks, hadn't caught that tweet. This just makes her sensitivity, defensiveness, and dismissal of even the most respectful of comments even more puzzling. Even a dumb*ss like Casal seems to be lying low about GC, seems like CE should have taken a cue from that dope.
I do think it's kind of unfair how the heat is off of Casal just because he's not dumb enough to tweet stupid sh*t while on vacation in Hawaii. His nonsense was even more egregious. That rando nobody got interviewed by the NYT for Pete's sake!

Agreed. It's kind of funny though—he's even more of an asshat than Cynthia, but nobody knows who he is in the first place, so can he even warrant a thread?

It is still mind boggling to me that Casal was quoted in all those publications.. I think it's probably because he was being RTd by a lot of people. But seriously... he's a nobody.

I have also lost respect for Ariana DeBose (who tweeted that Mandy made the right decision to step down, but then followed it with "now we must focus on these actors and where they can 'heal' "- Even Though nobody in the cast indicated they wanted her support
Adrienne Warren (who tweeted "black and brown is not trendy", without providing any context to the fact that Comet was already diverse),
and Kristolyn Lloyd (who tweeted, and I'm paraphrasing, "Oh, I know this BS"
