The straw that stirs the drink. No one can just take and deal with something. It all has to be someone's fault and blame has to placed on someone. Grown adults man. Gross.

Wading into this mess...what bothers me is that after the fuller truth was revealed, people who tweeted their opinions never owned the fact that they jumped the gun with conclusions, and instead, doubled down. Face value, yes, the casting change announcement certainly could be interpreted as dodgy, but once clarifications were made, I think the only right course of action was to say they had spoken before they had a clearer picture and that they were sorry for the impact those tweets had on this situation. I think intentions were good, but they made a mistake and should own it. I make mistakes at work and I own every single one. We all err, but I think it's how we handle those mistakes that gives people their impression of us. I'm neither white nor a man, and much older than Cynthia et al and have found that a genuine apology goes a long way in earning goodwill.
I must be using Twitter wrong. I don't see posts from people I don't want to hear from?

^ THIS.
Erivo's social media comportment has no effect on the lives of anyone on this board. If you don't like what she's saying, don't pay her any mind.

I agree, but if people are following people who follow Erivo, they might be seeing her tweets retweeted ad nauseam all over their timeline. She might also show up a lot in people's tracked tags.

There is nothing sadder than following a celebrity on Instagram and realizing that they need the validation they get from it.

My problem with her tweets aren't even Comet related, it's how she's dealing with the aftermath... look at this one for example:
https://twitter.com/CynthiaEriVo/status/903075559827050496
So her fans are not allowed to have a different opinion? She's the only one allowed to express her views?
She also said some unnecessary things on Glenn Close's mother day's apology...
'There is nothing sadder than following a celebrity on Instagram and realizing that they need the validation they get from it.'
Seriously? We become performers so that people will pay money to watch us. That seems of a piece to me.
I love my Instagram. It's a creative way to express one's self, and I live for the likes!
Twitter makes me wish I was illiterate. I knew I couldn't be a part of it when a friend talked to me about his new boyfriend...that he'd never met. They just were dm-ing on Twitter. That's not a boyfriend. That's a pen pal.

Sure they can. Post whatever you want. If you tag her, she can block you. If you send it to her, she may respond. How are differing opinions being stifled?

There is no dialogue when she's just blocking people. At this point it doesn't even have to Comet related for her to block someone.
You can't claim someone isn't your fan just because they disagree with something you said. By that logic I can only be her fan as long as I fully agree with her views and opinions. So I'm no longer a fan.
Ah, Twitter. Ruining careers and reputations since 2006.

You didn't say you wanted a dialogue. You said you wanted to post a differing opinion. They are different things.
Gosh, she's still engaging. Doesn't she have a PR team?
Lost all respect for her honestly.

Well the point of sharing a different opinion is to lead to a dialogue hopefully, not just to throw my two cents into the mix for the sake of being different.
It's about empathy, maybe my opinion will allow someone to see things from a new perspective. I know I have changed my mind after reading more about a certain subject.
She's still at it on twitter, despite claiming at least 4 times now that she was "done." She continues belittling the drummer, the one person engaging her who is an actual member of the company, and who actually knows what went on. It's utterly unbelievable how obnoxious she's become.

"Engaging her"? He called her ignorant then wrote out the definition for her.
Next time I go into an audition and I'm asked how many followers I have, I will say, 'Not enough to f*ck up the run of a show. Hire me.'

He called her ignorant as a response to her previous tweet to him, which was this one:
"As the drummer of the show, it's sad that you are this misled. I'm going back to vacation, you should explore looking at factual information"
And yes, she is ignorant on this particular subject, he was actually involved with the show, I tend to believe he is more aware of how it went down than she is.
Regardless of the race stuff, it's the way she talks to people that I'm not okay with. She is mean, quite frankly.

This is why so many use PR teams and are so careful. Once someone shows some human qualities (good and bad) it becomes too much for people to handle. IMO, if you're going to tag someone, expect a response back. You may not like it, but telling her to "check herself" or saying she NEEDS to act in a certain way is just another way for some to continue to push bitterness about the whole Comet closing onto her. It's one thing to not like and criticize what she's actually saying, but now to make her a part of the whole celebrities becoming too self-important when she's responding to people who are directly messaging/tweeting her is obviously showing some weird logical gymnastics to me.
BTW, pre-Gypsy, Laura Benanti got a lot of heat on this forum for doing an interview and stating how toxic hiveminded (she didn't use those terms but that's what they would be labeled out these days) Broadway fans were and how they kill shows, and people swore they would never see a show of hers or no longer support her. And that was pre-Twitter. Now, look who is almost always first on people's dream cast lists and who was used multiple times as an example of the anti-Cynthia Erivo. Same game, different players.
Mercedes said, "Why does she [CE] constantly engage? "
Because she gets responses. If everyone ignored her, she'd go away.

Yep. There's more to it than people worrying about Erivo being rude to some people who directly engaged with her.

I can't believe she called out the drummer of the show. He would obviously have more information, she is ridiculous and s h i t t y.
If Justin Bieber can delete his Twitter, so can she.
But for some reason this one spoke to me:
@ThoughtfulRepos
Replying to @CynthiaEriVo
No, it's how dare you falsely exclaim 'fire' in a crowded theater. You're the boy who cried wolf; your brouhaha over nothing dstroyd careers
