BroadwayConcierge, thank you! Could you also help me find the one where Ariana applauds Mandy for stepping down? Something ridiculous like "this is the function of the arts"

For sure! Actually, here's a whole article containing a bunch of the absurdly ridiculous tweets you're referencing. Ariana's "function of the arts" tweet can be found in there as well.

That congratulatory back patting for basically scaring off the guy the show was counting on to put them on more secure financial footing is kind of infuriating. Still confused as to why the actual GC cast was never considered in these conversations (except in Cynthia's mind)? Things escalated so quickly and barely a month later this wonderful cast is out of a job, and the conversation about representation they thought they were starting is backburnered. Just a ridiculously embarrassing situation for all those misguided keyboard warriors.

call_me_jorge, I'm calling out your white and/or male privilege. I have no problem with your disagreeing with Cynthia Erivo; I strongly object with you saying she needs to check herself. You're somewhere between 19 and 22. Does it give you a feeling of power to tell a 30 year old black woman to check herself?
As for the rest of you who posted, how quickly you turned!
This is what happens when people who have a public platform because they're pretty or they can belt high start thinking that they have PhD's in Ethnic Studies.
Honestly, the tone-deaf witch hunting of callout culture bothers me less than the antagonizing of fans. It's diva-ish and Erivo, while insanely talented, is not nearly legendary enough to start scoffing at the people who shell out money to see her damn concerts and shows.
I swear, some people think that making a living being an artist is their god-given right.

Can someone explain to me what she means by this tweet? I'm so confused.

The drummer is wrong, too, but come on."
OH, THAT "POISON OAK" DRUMMER?
Can someone post links to all her tweets so far?
I'm a blasian woman and I find Ms. Erivo and anyone who immediately jumped onto this bandwagon a complete idiot. They tore into this show without knowing any info and now they're being defensive about it when the facts came out. Oak was unprofessional and wasn't selling tickets. Bye, honey. Broadway's a business and this sh*t happens to everyone of every color. Don't pull your race card whenever something goes wrong in your life. I agree that there needs to be an open conversation about race as well as about gender, and sexual identity, but some extremely PC people are focused on dividing the world to the point of not even being able to function. I recently just saw a documentary on BBC about "digital blackface," which essentially means that white people shouldn't be allowed to use gifs that include black people. I'm sorry, but there are REAL racial problems in America. I don't need to attack every white person that innocently uses a gif including a black person. It's distracting BS and I'm getting sick of it. At what point do we get so PC that we just can't even function? I'm about as liberal as they come, but even I can admit that this is absolutely ridiculous and just makes us look bad.
You know who actually has it bad in terms of lack of diversity in theatre? Asian people, Latinos, literally every other race except black, plus sized people, and trans people. I hear the black community moan and groan about their lack of roles, meanwhile I could list hundreds of brilliant black roles as well roles that could easily be played by a black actor, so cry me a river ya'll. I'm so over it.
A troll posted some REALLY inappropriate tweets and of course, Cynthia responded. Seriously, she's so easily engaged with the conflict. This was like an hour after she said she wasn't responding to any GC tweets. She can't help herself!
On another note, her response to one was "tell it vogue baby" wth does that mean? Is it a British saying? I never heard that phrase.

While I would agree that "check herself" was probably not the best choice of phrases, I don't think Jorge was on a power trip with this. The issue at hand, and being discussed in this thread, is that regardless of race, Cynthia is out of control right now. She was engaging with trolls at 3 in the morning. Why? Can she not ignore people? If she is so sure her narrative on the whole debacle is correct (which, spoiler alert, it isn't), then she should feel secure enough in herself, so as not to engage with trolls (because some of the things she quoted during the wee hours of the morning were downright childish). As someone who, at one point, had a lot of respect for her, it saddens me to see her lashing out at so many people on Twitter, when taking the high road would be the much more mature thing to do. That, combined with the complete dodging of any responsibility, does not put Cynthia in a likable light.
To be fair, her tweet saying she was flabbergasted is no guarantee that she was complaining about the racial stuff, all of her other tweets were about how she thought the whole thing was mishandled and that Oak deserved better. Her posting Rafael's tweet is not saying she agrees with everything he says. The tweet includes the casting explanation that Rafael reposted and responded to with the "the white actor can take his place" statement. Because she is a very popular black actress, her thoughts were taken to believe she was also complaining about race and her tweeting about it obviously added to the anger about the decision. However, all of her tweets about the complaints she's got from other users are pretty childish: just let it go, if you were right, move on. It's not entirely her fault the show is closing, but she should say she didn't intend to start controversy that ended up having a role in the show's closing and state the full intent of her thoughts more clearly.
The most irritating thing is the fact that, when presented with the facts of the story, she steadfastly refuses to believe them, and instead continues to "dig in" peddling this nonsense.
Broadway is a small community, and people won't quickly forget this. I imagine both she and Poison Oak will have a hard time finding work after this. I know I have no interest in supporting either of them, which is a shame because Erivo gave one of the best performances I've ever seen in TCP.
Ms. Erivo should take her cue from Broadway's most prominent POC, Audra McDonald, who has never been afraid to discuss matters of race and racism, but recognized that this simply wasn't one and stayed out of it.

She's incredibly talented, but I think I'd now avoid seeing something she was in. There are others with as much talent who don't come across so badly. A while back - maybe on this board? I remember reading something about how Daniel Boys had even said something about her, and that made me think she's gotten people's backs up in the West End too...I can't imagine him saying anything otherwise.
I have no respect left for her.
She's been hassled for weeks by people blaming her for the closing of the show and she's responding to it. I haven't seen her say anything inappropriate or rude, unless she was responding in kind (for example to that ass Joey Cassata). She doesn't have any obligation to meekly take the crap people are giving her. I love her and respect any woman who stands up for herself against the onslaught of garbage on twitter.

Bull. She chooses to read her mentions and respond. As adults, we can ignore things; she chooses not to.
"I haven't seen her say anything inappropriate or rude, unless she was responding in kind (for example to that ass Joey Cassata)."
Maybe go back in the thread and read some of her responses to other users and even her tweet sent the day Comet announced its closing.
"She doesn't have any obligation to meekly take the crap people are giving her. I love her and respect any woman who stands up for herself against the onslaught of garbage on twitter."
She also doesn't have any obligation to respond to it all either. Twitter has these amazing mute and block functions that Cynthia really should look into using. It'll make her look like more of an adult AND it will protect her against the mean, nasty anonymous people (oh, and that musician she helped put out of work but refuses to acknowledge as an actual part of the show because he named names).

Truer words have never been spoken. Twitter especially.... There are maybe 3 people in the entertainment spectrum that I follow now on Instagram. I don't follow any celebrities on Twitter. What was once a decent way to personally engage with others is now just a vehicle for marketing and bloating one's ego. LMM seems to have found a decent balance between promoting his projects and yet still talking about his day to day.
Wait, so the woman who has given one decent performance in a horribly written show and was in a concert version of another where the general consensus of her performance was "meh" and been lauded as the second coming of Christie over a year now is out of fashion with people now?

Changed the title
It also pisses me off when I read comments from her fans who are supporting her when they clearly don't know the full/any of the story.
