Does this mean I finally have to get over the fact that Hedwig closed and go back to the Belasco

So much for all that Schoenfeld talk.

This. Going back to the Belasco to see Blackbird made me a tad emotional. But I really do love the Belasco ( one of my favorite Broadway theaters) and I'm excited to return to see DEH.

Is it opening in November or starting previews in November. I'll be in NYC the last week of October and would love to catch this
It starts previews in November. Opening night is December 4th I believe.
FROM the article: The production, directed by Michael Greif, will play the Belasco Theatre, with the opening night set for Sunday, December 4.
Now they're just teasing me, by not giving a date when Previews start.
I'll be in NY Nov 15th to the 20th, and I'd really like to see this. Hopefully the previews will be playing by then, but you can never tell. Kind of makes me nervous they're not announcing a preview start date, makes me think it will be a very short period, so knowing my luck, it will open after I'm there.
Well, worst case scenario, I see it next year, so not really griping. (First World Problems, right?) Just really would like this to be part of my Fall trip.

Tickets go on sale on the 19th, so we'll know then.
Usually about a month of previews. So around the first week of Nov.

Not true for this particular show. I'm told they expect a shorter period of previews. Around two, maybe three weeks. That would put it on track to begin mid-November.
I like the Belasco, but it seems large for such an intimate show. Maybe they'll keep the balcony unsold, or use it for rush. I wish they would sell the upper boxes for a cheap price, as the recent Globe's Shakespeare with Mark Rylance did.

As I said, it actually has fewer seats than the Schoenfeld. It just seems large because there are three levels, but all the levels are quite shallow.
It's coming from an OFf-Broadway run, so true, it might have a shorter preview period. But I'm sure they'd want it up and running well before Thanksgiving.

I'm not sure what was confusing about my original post. I'll repeat it again: They are currently discussing a preview period of about two weeks.

I find it strange that they waited to announce the house. Blackbird was always a limited run, so it makes no sense that they waited until now, that is unless the Belasco wasn't the original house it was going to.

Fosse, that was my thought too. Maybe they were trying to get a different house?

Speaking of things that should not be confusing, the press release lists the exact, unambiguous opening date: December 4.

Not that the theatre matters that much when the lights go down but it felt very dark when I was there for Blackbird. Like, it was too dimly lit.
Happy about Michael Park.

KnewItWhenIWasInFron, who are you replying to? We know the opening date. The preview period is being discussed. Two different things.
They bring in and hang their own lights, it will likely have a different feel entirely for this.
December? That's brave. Hope it's not a victim of the cruel winter months.

I saw Blackbird the other night, and didn't find this to be a problem. It felt the same to me as any other theatre. The only times it was dimly lit was on purpose like during Michelle Williams's monologue and during the scene when the power went out.

The Humans is closing in July, I thought...
