Just an uninformed two cents on this general topic. In many professions, there are plenty of behind the scenes workers that put a lot into the outcome of a product. However, at least in the profession in which I work, mistakes made by those under me may cause problems, but it is my license that people will go after. It seems to me that this would also be the case in the theatre. The actor is the public face of the production, and it is their performance that is constantly judged even though it could be greatly determined by what is going on behind the scenes.

Just one other point: Spring Awakening was years ago, no? Lea Michele was still fairly young and tasting her first sip of true celebrity. Have no idea what kind of person she is now or she was then: she very well could be a total PITA with which to work. However, it wouldn't be unheard of if she has grown a bit and has learned lessons along the way.

I have heard nothing to that effect, unfortunately. The majority of her Spring Awakening costars were, and still are, well-adjusted, very likable individuals.

Lea is stil friends with Groff, so clearly not everyone on Spring Awakening hated her.

How can you chastize anyone on here for not being "professional"? Professional what? Board commentators?

How can it be unprofessional of him to state his opinion, but not unprofessional to spill the beans.

People don't like her, personally or her work -- why does that bother you so? She certainly doesn't care, why should you? Do you think she's losing any sleep over it?

Is she going to find continued success? Can't tell you that one way or another, but I'm sure a lot worse have been much more successful. Whether her offstage/behind the scene antics do or don't make a difference to you is certainly your choice, but I certainly can't, in all good conscienceness, financially support someone (with my ticket buying) that I find abhorent.


Yes, Groff is an absolute sweetheart. I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about him.

That's actually a very good question and one that was asked many many many times. But it's not as simple as replacing someone just because they're not nice or unpleasant to be around. There's no "being a bitch" clause in a contract.

And yes, Jazz. Groff is one of the most genuine and kind people you'll ever meet. Was back then and was as of a few weeks ago.

Lea Michele is a grade A biatch. I do not know her, but I am very close with an ex-boyfriend. Had nothing but glowing things to say about her when it was JUST the two of them. He noted that she would immediately change or flip with others. And yes, as Jordan and Kad have stated, Groff had to apologize on multiple occasions for her behavior. Even to the ex-boyfriend.

P.S. I am so glad that Broadway Guy is not representing a creepy pedophile with his avatar but what's the deal with this summer vacation talk? Why does he have to come here for his summer vacation? Can't he go away to camp??

I don't know where to find it, but I swear someone else posted a story here where some reporters went to the Glee set to talk to Matt Morrison, and Lea was around and kept craving the attention, even though they were not there for her.

Well, I can tell you first hand that if you're not paying her any attention she turns into a 5 year old, throwing tantrums and doing the whole "Look what I can do! Look what I can do!", to get attention.

What's great about that story about Hailee Steinfeld is that Steinfeld is a freaking Oscar nominee! No matter what Lea Michele thinks about herself, she doesn't (and most likely never will) have that honor and recognition. Seriously, you guys know that you can still think she's talented even if she's an awful person? The way you are completely blinded when people on the board who have first hand experience are telling you she is a terrible human being is puzzling and sad. Jordan and Kad have been around long enough that everyone knows they are the real thing, and their descriptions match everyone else's take on Michele's antics (my favorite display of this animosity from someone in the industry was Sarah Hyland's impression of Michele on FASHION POLICE, priceless).

What's great about that story about Hailee Steinfeld is that Steinfeld is a freaking Oscar nominee!

Steinfeld was not an Oscar-nominee at the time of that event. She'd done some TV, but True Grit was her first film and major role. Lea Michele simply mistook her for an extra (i.e. not worth her time), which kinda says a lot about Lea. I'm sure that if the incident had taken place a year later, after True Grit became a big hit and Steinfeld was everywhere and became a major Oscar contender, that Lea would've responded differently and given her the time of day. If there are two things that girl knows how to do is a)publicize herself, and b)network.

That was the kindest version of that story I'd read. It doesn't matter whether she thought she was an extra or not, no one deserves to be treated rudely.

I am dying to meet all that jazz. He/She seems to put absolutely no stock in the importance of professionalism, attitude, and reputation.

It's true. There are many divas who are successful - but they did not BEGIN as divas. Lea began as a diva. The theatre community is close; how you treat your peers is important.

I assume you are NOT in the workforce and still going to school. You'll find out that how you treat others, whether it's an employee or employer, can (and will) have a direct impact on your own professional trajectory once you leave the shelter of your own home. Those who are ruthless sharks - in theatre and beyond - began their careers at the bottom of the totem pole with significant humility. Lea Michele did not.

Have you even read this whole thread? I just said a couple of posts ago that unprofessional behavior will most likely jeopardize your career. And I haven't in any way applauded her behavior, I've made it very clear that I don't know her and that I only admire her for her talents.

My last post was just meant to show how obvious and unapologetic the double standards on this board are. I've read way worst stagedoor stories here about actors not wanting to give autographs, and most nearly the collective response is that signing and taking pictures is not part of an actor's job.
