So the Gossip Girl-style social media outlet is reporting the following. Take it all with a grain of salt.
1) Oscar Isaac was being considered for Funny Girl, but it's going to Ramin Karimloo (I know this has been mentioned in the FG thread).
2) Sunday in the Park in London with Jake Gyllenhaal isn't happening, but they're going to try to film it for wide release.
3) Jake is in talks to lead a Sondheim tribute at City Center where he'd perform with Mandy Patinkin. Take my money.
Damnit. I’ve been praying that “Sunday” would happen but at this point, i figured it probably wouldn’t.
As for the other - i will be there for Every. Single. Performance.
#3 can have ny retirement fund.
I'm happy Jake and Annaleigh are preserving their Sunday. Since James discussed the film he tried to make a few years back with Jake and Meryl, I do wish someone would try again. There has to be a streaming network who would jump at a new Sondheim film, right? Right?? If only.

Oh wow, pretty disappointed about Sunday as well if that's the case but I'd love a filmed version. How's the track record of this site been in the past?

Well, if all goes well, the Tick Tick Boom film will be a massive success. And the combination of Bradley Whitford portraying Sondheim + the "Sunday" parody number will reignite public interest in the show, and Sondheim's work in general. And Netflix will want to capitalize on that attention by filming Sunday with Jake.
...
...
...
Then Sondheim will become a TikTok sensation, and he'll finish Bunuel by the end of 2022.
...
...
And as long as I'm REALLY indulging my fantasy: someone other than Annaleigh Ashford will play Dot

"Being considered" by the production is so different than Oscar Isaac/his agents actually considering taking the role. Of course the producers had him on a list and maybe even made an offer, but no legitimate star in their right mind would actually consider playing such a dumb role. Oscar Isaac has had many Broadway offers (& has been attached to a few plays before dropping out) but has been choosy with what he does on stage.
If 2 happens, I wonder how it will be accomplished. A proshot like the recording of the original broadway cast, or a proper film? Lapine has been mentioning a full film of Sunday in press for his recent book, but I had assumed he meant it in the context of "we considered doing a film in the 1980's and then didn't".
New blind:
Chicago will reopen on Broadway with a former Dreamgirl, a beloved Emmy winner, a Brazilian heartthrob, and the rising queen of the movie musical. Thoughts?
Also, someone above asked about how reliable their sources are. They acknowledge that anyone can send a blind in and advise to take them with a grain of salt, but many do turn out to be legit.

I can figure out all except the Emmy winner...
It's being discussed on the Chicago thread, if you want to look there.
They said it’s Lillias White, Paulo Szot, Ana Villafane and Bianca Marroquin. They don’t think there’s an Emmy winner in the mix.
We of the Chicago thread think they meant Jane Krakowski (who is a multi Emmy nominee but not winner), Ariana DeBose, Paulo Szot, and Lillias White.
A new blind item on DeuxMoi says the original tip had old info: Krakowski & DeBose were going to do it but pulled out a month ago, so it is Ana Villafane and Bianca Marroquin as Roxie & Velma, with Lillias White and Paulo Szot.
To be taken with a grain of salt...

I'm gonna guess Jennifer Holliday for Mama Morton but am pretty stumped otherwise.
Another item from DeuxMoi tonight which is far more interesting than CHICAGO speculation:
"A lot of **** is going down behind the scenes on Broadway. Several high profile actors, directors, producers are getting called out for their sexual impropriety and insane behaviors. Scott Rudin was only the beginning. Expect men and women to get exposed"
God no.

Not sure who is included in this, but I hope there are more consequences this time around than there was for Ben Vereen and some of the others who had been called out previously. It’s about time this industry gets some accountability.

This is correct for Chicago except not Paulo it is Jamie Camil. Lillias, Ana V. Bianca in a rolel.

Jaime Camil is Mexican though…
If it is Paulo Szot, I will throw my panties at the stage. Him in “South Pacific” was part of my gay awakening
Not exactly the star-studded reopening we all thought would be happening.

Far from it. It's, imho, worse than a lot of the other recent CHICAGO combos.

I think the Deux Moi tip about telling people that Jane Krakowski and Ariana De Bose left Chicago a month ago (without saying why?). (Scheduling conflicts?) is to prepare us for big news especially since the Chicago website says they're about to release a casting bombshell.
Yeah the “casting bombshell” thing is really building up to…that? Don’t get me wrong, they’re ALL insanely talented but besides Miss Lillias, none of those mentioned are gonna get me back to see that show.
The "casting bombshell" has been on the website for months. Remember their campaign of "there's always someone great in Chicago" a few years back? "Bombshell" is one of those phrases like "star-studded" or "multi-award-winning" that means nothing, and in this case is probably WORSE for the show if they're not opening with actual stars who sell tickets en masse.

Ayanna Prescod, the theatre journalist, was really hyping up the casting on her Twitter. Basically saying, "You're going to want to see Chicago ASAP with this cast." And plus with the initial Broadway tip about Chicago, "beloved Emmy winner" (or nominee) if the person wasn't sure, I'm still leaning toward Jane Krakowski. Unless the "beloved Emmy winner" will be playing Amos Hart?
I'm definitely excited to see Ana V. and Lillias if true, though!
