Just curious because I know she mentions the original cast and Beth Leavel in an interview, and I am just curious to know if there are any sources that heard she actually went to the show.
I doubt it. Most of the audience reached through Netflix didn’t see it on Broadway. I’d argue most of the targeted audience PERIOD didn’t see it on Broadway.
I feel like I remember it being mentioned she was there and then a casting announcement was made not long after.
Even if she didn't see it in-person I would bet she would have seen an archival recording.
Meryl did not see the show on Broadway. She did prep extensively both physically and vocally and fully wanting to honor the original Broadway cast, she worked with Beth Leavel on the role. Similar to what Gwen Verdon did with Shirley Maclaine for the 1969 film adaptation of SWEET CHARITY.
I wonder if Meryl will see Beth in Devil Wears Prada
If this is true, that is so great. And yes would love if Meryl saw Beth in Devil Wears Prada!
Maybe its time for that musical version of "Sweet Bird of Youth".
Beth would be sensational singing "I See Me!", especially those disco moves!

I think it’s safe to assume Meryl will see Beth as Miranda Priestly WHEN it actually hits the stage. The musical hasn’t been performed yet. Last thing announced was the casting of the leads. No rehearsals even started.
Meryl said on James Corden the other night she saw it on broadway right before it closed and that she thinks they’re working on it to bring it back, but I’m guessing that means a tour or london.
Here's the clip where she says she saw it (around the 6min mark).

Exactly who or what are your sources? Your claim to Meryl never having seen the show on Broadway has already been debunked, so now I'm questioning the validity of your claim that Leavel assisted Streep in her performance a la Verdon/MacLaine in Sweet Charity.

Meryl did see the show on Broadway . I believe she talked about it on Jimmy Kimmel ( might have been Colbert ) . But Beth L talked about having her n the audience towards the end of the run in her Provincetown show last year with Seth Rudetsky two weeks after Prom closed on Broadway .
