As I just posted about in The Visit thread, yes, it's a possibility. Anyone who follows the grosses saw this one coming.

Not very surprising. That would certainly be a good theatre for The Visit, and that's all that they were waiting for.

Was this initially an open run? Seems pretty ambitious for any play these days.

The timing is perfect for The Visit to come in this season.

I'm a bit surprised none of you took out a second to regret the closing of Disgraced. Was it that disliked? I thought it a powerful play.

If I had to guess it wasn't so much grosses as it was Josh Radnor's contract ending March 1st. It has had extremly respectable grosses for a play, and if the show was truly hurting it would close this month and not two months down the road.

I would of loved to see it. Any chances of the Frick coming to Broadway?

What "NewYorkTheater" said.

Glad to see no one cares about a well-written, powerful new play, and just want to talk about the prospects of a new musical coming in to replace it. Keep it up.

so, should we be wearing black? Candlelight vigil? What should we be doing? The play and our opinions on it have been discussed already.

Why didn't you do it if you're so sad about the closing?

Enjoyed the show, good performances.

I thought that's what i was doing. But if you need me to be more explicit:
I regret the closing of "Disgraced," and that a dramatically satisfying play that attempts to comment on an important issue facing us can only last on Broadway four months.

It will have lasted longer than any new play last season and probably longer than most this season other than Curious Incident.

I wouldn't be shocked if the stop clause was invoked in a similar fashion to Side Show.

I will make it my business to get in before it closes. I loved loved loved The Invisible Hand and thought it a powerful piece of theater. I liked The Who and the What too, but I didn't find it quite as memorable.

So excited about The Visit coming in to take over! (:p).

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

@Mr. Musical--
The stop clause was not invoked re Side Show, though it would have been if necessary, and it certainly will not be invoked re Disgraced.

Disgraced was okay. IMO, the performances weren't as great as people made them out to be, and the script itself was both well-written and messy (the structure).

I love when plays tour, though! Wish more plays would go on the road.

What the article says, which is correct and also what I said, is that they were told that if they did not close, it would be used. The producer agreed to close the show. Had he not, his first gig as a lead producer would have also been his last.
