I wonder what gives Dave the audacity to redefine what racism is
I wonder why even after I said "bye" I'm still acknowledging this troll

But, my friends of color, how do you put up with this? HOW?"

LizzieCurry, as an Asian-American yourself, do you find it at all "flattering" when people use costume and makeup to pretend to be your race?
I certainly don't find blackface "flattering", but Dave thinks I should "let it go"

"people OF that race should be playing the roles"
And that works only one way, according to you? You are denying African American actors A LOT of work if you think that way.
I say, let's forget all of that prejudice and let anyone play anything.

Showface, what's your answer on the 2 questions?
You are avoiding them.

I wonder if Dave realizes that everyone he is arguing against is for non-white actors in traditionally white roles that have nothing to do with race
I wonder why he doesn't recognize, however that there is no double standard when it comes to this because non-white performers have been and continue to be shoved aside
I wonder what goes on in that head...

Racism has always been the same. Making separations about races in your mind. Like you do.
So again:
1. Is it ok for a white actor to play the Meditteranean Ubaldo Piangi including Italian look and speech in Phantom?
Yes/No
2. Is it ok for a black actor to play the Meditteranean Ubaldo Piangi including Italian look and speech in Phantom?
Yes/No
As long as you don't answer both questions with "Yes", you are part of the problem and the basis of racism in the USA.

I've never seen such a fixation on Ubaldo Piangi. I don't even think actors who've played him think as much about him!

Dave clearly doesn't know what racism is lol
Your first question is stupid because Italian people are white, so...
And of course a black person could play Piangi
Lol, try harder

His posting history is a litany of lunacy. There is no point in engaging him because he's either a troll or living in a terrible alternate reality.

I want to think he's a troll, but other posters seem to live in a similar reality as him, so maybe it's both?

A sub race is not the same race. What is your measuring point in the size of the difference in color in order to treat people differently? Then I keep that in mind for my next replies.

So what's your reality? Keep on bringing up old subjects and denying african american actors the role of Ubaldo Piangi?
Great.

Interesting question.
I too wonder how lost, mad, upset and disabled Lizzie felt when she saw the cover Ellen in Miss saigon as a bar girl with a line around her eye.

I bring up old subjects because they color exactly what kind of crazy you are.
And who the **** cares who they cast as Piangi in Phantom? They could cast a toaster and it would make no difference.

He's like an SNL character!

Now we are getting somewhere.
I agree. And there is no need to change the Italian background, look, make up, lines and accent of the role of course. As long as the toaster can play it.
Diversity on Broadway#443
Posted: 10/21/15 at 11:08amI haven't even been following how Piangi, the least discussed character in the history of maybe anything, has come to dominate this thread.

I was also wondering how long it took him on google to find that particular definition. Or if he made it up.

Oh, please with this foolish "now we are getting somewhere" nonsense.
YOU still have yet to learn.
It is FINE to cast a non-white person as Piangi (who wether you care to admit it...is white) his character has nothing to with race.
Yet, you STILL believe that a non-black person can play Effie White. Smh.

Flatten your face with a frying pan, yes. But not flattering.
