I'm sorry but having been on both sides of this, I have to say it is often an emotional or other kind of trauma that drives these repeat viewers. One show in particular I saw a truly embarrassing number of times because I was going through something at the time and used the show as an escape mechanism. It's not something I'm proud of but it did happen. That's why when I see these kids seeing the same show 50+ times, I have to say I'm highly dubious that it's purely a fan thing.
I was a huge, huge fan of The Mystery of Edwin Drood (obviously), it was one of my favorite theatrical productions I've seen in years. But my total count of seeing it is in the single digits because I had a job and friends and other things going on so when I did see it, it was out of desire to appreciate the production and not to fill a void.
ON TOPIC: Spiderman does still have serious technical issues. Both friends I know who saw it recently had some kind of stop or malfunction, though none as serious as the OP.
Yes, when I go to the movies it is about $37 Imax, Imax 3D, plus snacks Usually a pizza large soda popcorn, Liza's Headband. But again my time my money so you do not need to worry about it. Believe me I make more than enough at my job to afford to see my new favorite 101 times and still have time for a job, a boyfriend, and a life. and see other shows. Edit to add snacks.
yup. I am a chef. I don't eat a lot durring the week, because I taste a ton of food all the time and it tricks you into thinking you are full. On my days off I eat almost constantly when I am not at theater or shopping or doing laundry or out with friends, but usually if out with friends we are eating anyway.
So you have time to see a show 101 times, enjoy other shows as well, and go to the 3D IMAX with a pizza and popcorn regularly?? When do you work? How is there enough time in the day? I'm confused.
That does not surprise me LIZA, I work 4 to 5 days a week. HIT shows on my days off and Imax either late night when the movies open or before I go to work. That is the beautiful thing about being a chef. I work nights for the most part. I have tons of time to do lots of things. I am not tied to 9 to 5 time tables. Saw Pippin yesterday went to a lecture in neon last night. Seeing Sontag Reborn tonight. Also have a great boyfriend that does the laundry and cooking. Sold his loft apartment a few years ago and retired, so life is pretty good. Like I said no need to worry, I have my life pretty well handled and well rounded.
EDIT: the BETTER question is WHEN DO I SLEEP? Answer on the Rush Line waiting for PIPPIN tickets.
and at this time I have only seen it 22 times. 79 more to go.
Was also at Spidey on Tuesday (had comps!). It was my first time seeing it, but I was glad I got the 'full Spider-Man experience'.
The show stopped for about 30 minutes in act one, and then attempted the entirety of act 2 with little to no wire work, except for the finale where the Green Goblin fought himself, with Spider-Man's vocal track still playing.
When I saw Robert last summer, he looked like he was having a lot of fun, yankeefan7.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
