Hello, I was wondering if anyone has a Dogfight playbill (the 2012 production with Derek Klena and Lindsay Mendez) for sale? It doesn't have to be signed! Please let me know, it's a gift for a friend :)

Question: Within the past year I have seen more than a few (like 5-6) threads specifically asking for Dogfight playbills. It seems that any time someone is looking for a Playbill, it's for Dogfight. Why? What is it about this show? I saw it at Second Stage but don't really remember much beyond the basic plot.

Apparently, due to Pasck and Paul's newfound giant fandom, a bunch of people want Dogfight playbills to complete their prized collections. The same happened with all of Andrew Rannells and most people involved in the top 4 teenage musicals currently. Giant collections missing one "rare" playbill.

And thanks for asking (and answering) above, that makes sense re: Pasek and Paul collections. I'd been thinking maybe it was a Lindsay Mendez thing.

I could care less about P& P personally. I collect for specific actors/actresses that I like. I wanted Dogfight because of Lindsay. Took me 5 months to find one and it was $80.

Seriously, though, check out the ‘completed’ section of eBay Playbill sales sometime. Always a reminder to myself that I should unbox my Hamilton Playbills from The Public and sell them.

Wow, I had no idea they went for so much money. I have mine, but unfortunately I only have one and I like to keep all my Playbills. I do have a couple extra Hamilton off-Broadway playbills and didn't realize those were worth so much, either! It's worth thinking about selling! I also have Spring Awakening off-Broadway that looks like it could get a lot; I never really thought there was such a market for Playbills.

I used to give them away for free on here, until I realized some people were selling them for big bucks. They used the ploy that theirs had gotten damaged. You try to be nice!

Wow. Who knew? I am at point in my life, where I am looking to get rid of things and just spoke with my wife about cleaning out the Playbills that I have saved since 1969 (thousands). I definitely have the Dogfight Off-Broadway Playbill and I know I have Rent from Off-Broadway, Merrily We Roll Along (Original cast), plus so many more. Also, after my mother passed away, I took possession of her Playbills and have many Broadway Playbills from the 1960s and 1950s such as Original cast of Cat on the Hot tin Roof, Funny Girl, Fiddler, Mame and scores more. Besides eBay, anyone know of a good way to sell?

There are a lot of Playbill selling groups on Facebook. Lots of hard core theatre fans looking to buy there.

I'm a big fan of eBay, since you can often sell things for prices you would never dream of charging otherwise. I start everything at a penny, though, since if you price things close to their value, you will just sell them. If you get five people outbidding each other for a week, those people really start wanting to WIN.
When I sold Broadway magnets once, toward the end, people were putting in bids of $500, just to make sure they didn't get outbid at the last second. And I'm sure quite a few people got stuck with some high prices as a result, since other people put in lower crazy amounts, and then at last second, it would go for one bid amount over one person's crazy price. Some magnets went from $30ish to $200+ in the final seconds.
Never underestimate people wanting to win an auction. If you're concerned about it going too low, you can set a reserve price for a little extra and if doesn't go above that amount, you don't sell it.
