Gregg Barnes knocks off Tazewell and JELLICLE BALL for costume design. Interesting.

Boop winning Costume Design over Death Becomes Her is kind of insane?

I don't think it's that insane. Barnes also won the OCC for Boop!, and I think the Tony Award is expected to be between those two shows. While Tazewell's costumes are beautiful to look at (and Simard's smoking dress is a very cool feat), Barnes' costumes are very appealing to the eye and leave a lasting impression for the contrast between the black and white world and the color world.

The issue is the Act Two opener of Boop is the most memorable thing about it.
Last year, 8 of the 10 acting winners were women. Let's see how it all shakes out this year. Based on who is likely to win, I think the acting winners will be fairly evenly split by gender in the end.

Boop received 12 Drama Desk nominations (including in a lot of categories it's nowhere to be found at the Tonys), vs 5 for Death Becomes Her. They clearly liked Boop better. It may be insane, but also predictable.

There are two winners for each performance category since they're non-gendered now. So there technically was a tie for Featured Performance in a Musical to create three winners."
So it’s entirely possible Audra and Nicole win together for Lead Performance in a Musical? Interesting.

Entirely possible and what (I expect) a lot of people are predicting. That being said, I wouldn't be shocked at a Jasmine Amy Rogers win with either of them either.
Arden over Lloyd and JELLICLE BALL for direction of a musical.
Michael Arden wins Director over Jamie Lloyd, and Jerry Mitchell wins Choreography (both won at the OCCs as well).
GYPSY takes home musical revival.

Yeah no, sorry, these awards are an utter joke and I will not be convinced otherwise.

MAJOR. Granted, the critics were definitely higher on Gypsy than Sunset, so the Tonys might end up with a different result. But it IS interesting that Jellicle Ball won this category over both shows at the OCCs. This is the first major departure from the OCCs so far tonight.

The Drama Desk, again, not accurate.

Exactly these are a mess - even some of the nominations.
It's official: while Boop! was only nominated for 3 Tony Awards, it has won ALL of those categories at both the Outer Critics Circle AND the Drama Desk.

Donnelly and Snook for lead performance in a play.
No shockers there.
So women swept in three of the four acting categories while men took the Featured Musical category.
MHE outstanding musical, PURPOSE outstanding play.
