Yeah no, sorry, these awards are an utter joke and I will not be convinced otherwise."

Boop! won more Drama Desk Awards than Sunset Blvd.
seriously though, they predict the acting categories fairly accurately. Has Audra pulled ahead?

At the end of the day, Nicole's only precursor win was the one Audra was not eligible for. I just dont see it happening. It's going to be Audra or Jasmine.

Some of the most batsh*t crazy outcomes since, well, the last Drama Desk Awards
The Tony voting body is completely different from the other awards including the Drama Desks.

True but when 3 separate voting bodies all vote one way (or, against one way I should say), then I think we can start keying into it. If they were all going different directions, of course one award body is not a precursor of the tonys.
And as we just saw, OH, MARY!, DEAD OUTLAW, and BUENA VISTA all weren’t eligible for this year’s Drama Desks.
The other awards members overlap. Critics etc.

Yah I expect Buena Vista to win a few of these (choreography perhaps, sound design perhaps, orchestrations almost certainly), but Boop's biggest competitors in the other two categories have been nominated alongside of it at every turn this season. At this point, I do expect it to win for costumes, and I'm still not sold that a Jasmine win is out of the question. To be honest, I think Nicole has a lot of VERY LOUD fans, but I've also heard a lot of people say they really did not enjoy her performance outside of her two big songs. Her performance may be the most divisive among the trio of performers who could realistically win the Tony. I think that works against her. I still think it's probably Audra's to lose at this point, but a Jasmine win would not surprise me in the slightest.
It's looking more and more like a DEATH BECOMES THEM come Tony time.

Hopefully we get more of a picture for the lead actress race when Paulson releases his voter survey later this week.
Why do they even bother having two winners in each of the non-gendered acting categories? Both winners in each category went to the same gender (Featured actor in a musical went to three men).

Boop had 8 noms at OCC and won 3
Boop had 11 noms at DD and won 3
Boop has 3 noms at the Tonys, if wins ONE I will say is enough.
Jasmine IS NOT winning over Audra or Nicole, this award doesnt matter more or less than the OCC and even the Drama League that Nicole got.
Again, people, only time this century that a LEAD ACTRESS won without a Best Musical/Revival was J Block and she was a theater veteran in her third/fourth nomination.

That is fairly untrue. The NY Drama Critics, the OCC, and the Drama Desk are mostly unique voting bodies. By my very quick count, of the 101 voting members for the Drama Desks, only 4 are voting members for the NY Drama Critics Awards. And the OCCs are vastly journalists from out of town publications who wouldn't be eligible to sit on the NY Drama Critics Circle. But MANY of the voting members for all 3 of these voting bodies are ALSO Tony voters.

When you say many How much you mean out of the 800+ Tony voters?

Meh. That takes all the fun out of it. The trouble with the New York Times survey is that it’s too accurate, and then we just watch coronations except in the categories that are too close to call or that Paulson doesn’t ask about.
Let’s have speculation and drama and a little excitement.

Obviously they are still a minority of the total Tony-voting population, but that wasn't my point. My point was merely to say that the recurring trends at these previous ceremonies didn't occur because of an overlap in voters as CoffeeBreak implied. I'm not at all saying that we will necessarily see the same results at the Tony Awards, where there are many more voters from other parts of the industry.

Except this season has two competing performances that can very well cancel each other.
It may be unlikely, definitely not impossible.

While I appreciate this attempt at correcting MadsonMelo, TECHNICALLY 2000 was the last year of the previous century.

Jasmine is nominated so is technically possível that she wins, true.
Its highly unlike, and I don’t buy the cancelling each other
Especially since Audra got that profile on TIMES and all that LuPone repercursion, its was said by NYPost that was a close race between Rose and Norma and I think one is certainly prevailing

I think it's pretty clear Audra pulled ahead a while ago. People here can have differing opinions on her performances, but it seems pretty clear the industry is leaning Audra's direction over Nicole's and has been for quite some time.
