C**t or not, her performance in NETWORK is one of the Top Twenty greatest female performances I have ever witnessed on screen.
And I love her in THE RULES OF ATTRACTION (and of course CHINATOWN and MOMMIE DEAREST). I wish they had kept more of her storyline and done some of the things from the book... but the "Blue car" conversation w/ Swoozie Kurtz always cracks me up.
And a friend was a lighting tech for a project she worked on once and did not have one nice thing to say about the experience, let alone her performance on and off the set. I think I'd get along with her just fine, but who knows?
It’s odd how you are the ONLY person who seemed to enjoy Ms. Funn-away in the show.
Maybe it was because you were with her assistant?
Maybe it was the comps?
Maybe it was the meet and greet?
She was horrible in the role. She obviously thought, "Wow, I can just play myself on a bad day" and did.
And how is it that NO ONE else in this thread is being objective in his or her assessment of the show?
A film version without Faye, and with someone who doesn't have her baggage, would have been fantastic. Too bad we'll be stuck with 'Master Class, Dearest'.

You're right, I'm the only one in the world how liked the show.
No, I enjoyed it because it was a great production. Regardless of who I sat next to, went with, or met afterwards has nothing to do with it being an enjoyable experience. There was no ulterior motive to my opinion of the show or her performance. To be able to have met her afterwards, was the icing on the cake.
"When Faye Dunaway, the Callas of the touring production at the Shubert in New Haven, proclaims herself the servant of art, tempering the ego of a diva to the needs of the students, one feels she must be kidding."

Danielle de Niese, a really superb young soprano recently starring in the Met's Figaro is apparently playing Sharon, the role Audra McDonald won the Tony award for.
I think it will probably have to go the festival route to find a distributor since this isn't a studio financed project. Hopefully it will be strong enough to be picked up.
No one wants to watch her any more. Faye Dunaway is more box office poision than Joan Crawford ever was.

I normally just stop by for Broadway news but I saw this topic and had to respond. They are filming this movie here in the Detroit-area and my friend was cast as an extra. She worked directly with Faye Dunaway (as she is the director and all) and worked all day on this 70's protest scene. Ms. Dunaway loved whatever my friend was doing and kept telling her to do it again and keep it up, things like that.
Well, my friend kept in touch with a few others who were asked back for other scenes and apparently everyone else has been having major problems with Ms. Dunaway and that whole entire scene that they shot all day she just decided on a whim that she hated it and wanted to do it all over again. I guess stuff like that has been happening a lot lately causing a lot of delays. Everyone my friend kept in touch with has been saying it's been a nightmare working for her and that the whole production is extremely unorganized.
Unfortunately, Megxyz, that anecdote sounds like the behavior Dunaway has become known for and most people assumed would permeate the atmosphere surrounding the filming. I think it will be something of a miracle if this gets finished, but as the character of Callas says in the play: "I wish her well."
I liked my mem'ries as they were But now I'll leave rememb'ring her
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
Faye's behavior has always been all over the place. A friend of mine who used to be her assistant told me horror stories about her.
I've been on many a film set that has been disorganized in one way or another throughout the years. It doesn't mean doom or gloom. There could be anyone of a number of reasons why the scene was reshot...bad lighting, noise, planes overhead, etc. Look at all the times that Stanley Kubrick would reshoot a scene? Scenes are reshot quite frequently, it's not that usual. Certainly not comparing Kubrick to Dunaway as a director. This is her first time behind the camera.
100% of the people who left negative comments on this thread will more than likely never get at least 3 mins of fame outside these emails. It's very easy to criticize when you've never won an Oscar or may more than $100k in any form of entertainment. All of you are bitter and have only created bad karma for yourselves. In short, you're all a bunch of Z-rated haters who only know how to take the low-road in seeing negative in people when there is a world of good. I wouldn't be surprised if you all make less than 50K. Ha! Whatever Faye does, good, bad, great or excellent...at least she's doing it!

Even though her performance in Network is superb, my vote will be for her excellent work in Chinatown for which I felt was more Oscar worthy. I will look forward to seeing this film because I enjoy Dunnaway's performances from the 70s. It would be nice to see her return to form in another Outstanding performance. We will have to see.

There's SOMETHING likeable about it, her son is beautiful.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)
It would be nice to see her return to form in another Outstanding performance.
If her performance in the film resembles anything to her performance on stage, then it would be best to wait until she does...anything else. What a waste.

Note to Karma2 - If it weren't for the supporters of theatre and film, whom you so casually dismiss because we aren't making money in the industry -- none of the "stars" would be making any money either if we weren't buying tickets. So yes, we do have the right to an opinion.
