Fox's social media are saying today Everybody's Talking About Jamie has a release date, Oct. 23, 2020! And since it's now a Disney movie (from their Fox merger) I hope this makes Jamie a Disney Princess. (But my real fear is that they'll give it a weak publicity push like Disney has been doing to all the Fox films since they acquired them.)

I liked it, it wasn't amazing but it was very entertaining.

The first act was great, the second not so much.

The crowd went absolutely MENTAL though the night I saw it and it seems to sell out at full price most nights in the West End.

I don't see why it wouldn't find an audience on Broadway, it was much better than a lot of the ****e I've seen there.

The score was nice enough, I wouldn't buy it or choose to listen to it, but it suited the show well enough.

Saw it in London with Joel McRae, who originated the role- and it was really excellent- relevant, upbeat and in its own way, important.

Had a friend go to a screening of the film version last night in LA. He said it was great!

I wonder how well the language would translate to international audiences. I remember when I first saw it in London, being quite amused at an American gentleman requesting a definition of the word 'minger' by an ice-cream seller. 

I've since seen it a couple of times with different casts, looking forward to seeing the film and/or any future versions.

I'm glad we're getting musicals about LGBT+ youth but between The Prom, Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Becoming Nancy and, looking further back, Bare, Prom Queen and Zanna Don't! I've yet to see a particularly good one. Jamie benefits from a star turn but the score is middling, with some real klunkers, and the second act book is a disappointment. 

I was hoping someone would commission a Love, Simon musical but the iron seems to have cooled on that property. We'll see if Disney's upcoming series can revive interest.

Disney is filming a Love, Simon series for Disney+. Nic Robinson, star of the original film, will co-produce and narrate. They're ignoring the book sequel. It's an original story about a new class of students at Simon's high school.

I have personally stopped prognosticating about what will go to Broadway and what won't. This season will have both Diana and Sing Street opening. Neither is appropriate for Broadway IMO.

This would be a hard sell, if it opened cold on Broadway.

But saying that best route to market for Broadway, would be to play Toronto, could be great as a Mirvish subscription, 2 or 3 dates in other US, such as; Chicago, Boston and San Francisco etc and build a buzz, like Six has, then see if it is viable to do Broadway.

I'm fairly familiar with British terms, but I had to look it up afterwards as well. I also wonder how well the Northern accent will fare in the US. Personally, I'd say I missed about 20% of the dialog. I got it, although I didn't comprehend some of the talk.

I'm definitely looking forward to the film/

I saw this again last week and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

However I do think they need to add a few things. At the moment the 2 biggest moments in the show are not seen and this needs to be fixed before it lands on Broadway. Audiences there won't accept it the way it is now.

Firstly we NEED to see his first performance as a drag queen and the last song which now appears like a first encore needs to start as the final prom scene and then bring in the drag queens etc and make it the big finale.

It is just odd as it currently sits. It's like there is no finale and 2 wimpy encores.

I have only seen the filmed stage version and loved it especially the brilliant opening number and the song by his mother-what a voice.

Would love to see the grown up boy from Beautiful People now playing Jamie.

Can't stand Michelle Visage--would she have played the bit part of Coco Chanelle[wrong name]during that really dreadful song sung by that equally awful man?

There is absolutely no reason for it to be English[even thought based on a real person]. It could be set in America/ Australia/France--there they would speak French and just add in local humour.

I liked it a lot. I loved the Mother, hated the Father which shows that the writing worked[for me]. The mothers' wacky best friend exists in all cultures[especially in Australia].

Would love to see it rewritten for Australia.

I really want this to transfer to Broadway. I think it would have a nice run and be well received. I can definitely see Visage as Ms. Hedge. I think they could pull a few drag queens from the New York City scene like they did in London.

I agree that we'd need to see Jamie/Mimi Me in drag and have some sort of performance. They'd need to make a scene that doesn't remind us of Kinky Boots. Additionally, I need a bit more gusto in the finale/ending scenes.

My biggest issue with the musical is that it is too British to transfer easily. There were at of key plot points and slag that confused me as an American watching the show on the West End. (I've spoke to many friends about this, and they agree. It's something like all the gay New York references in The Inheritance that you'd truly only understand in context.)

Otherwise, I could see this getting several Tony noms and having a nice national tour. Put it into the Neil Simon, Broadhurst, or Imperial if they were open.
