Not to be offensive, but I really dont think we should base our opinions on Eden with comments by TheatreGuy. LONG before she started the role, he was bitching and moaning about how terrible her "dog whistle" voice was and how pissed he was that he got stuck with her. Maybe someone with a slightly smaller byass would be better.

I saw the matinee yesterday in San Francisco and thought that Eden was fantastic. In fact on the long 6 hour drive back home (yes I drove to San Francisco and back in the same day to see Eden) I thought of this thread and decided to post calling her Eden Espinawesome just to rival the original post.

Katie Adams was on as Glinda and the two of them had such great chemistry.

I support people expressing their opinion, but I can't imagine Eden being anywhere near as "off" as this person claimed.

She really did, loudirishgirl. I went in knowing that I liked her voice, but she really was quite incredible. I also am part of the group that thinks she is absolutely beautiful as Elphaba.

This is my first time seeing Wicked live, but I must say that the chemistry between Eden and Katie Adams (Kendra was out) was excellent.

My only complaint with this company was Fiyero. He just didn't work for me at all. I found him to be a bit "too feminine" in the role and didn't like his voice for the role at all.

O Patronus I am so glad you loved her! I thought she was amazing and also worth the drive when I came up from Vegas to LA! Yea! I hope it was worth the massive amount of money you spent I kinda agree on the Fiyero thing. I felt he needed to be a bit less feminine to portray the part better, but he didn't detract from the show. Anyway - so glad you loved Eden!!1 Love the "Espinawesome" too!

Thanks again for the PM that helped me decide to see this hairspraydoll. I honestly am not sure that I'd have gone had it not been for you.

In fact, I am giving serious thought to trying to make time to see Hairspray in NY now since your taste is so good.

I agree that the Derrick Williams (Fiyero) didn't take anything away from the performance at all. He just didn't add anything to it for me. I think I am spoiled by Norbert. It seems that the tempo of Dancing Through Life is a bit slower than it was originally.

Yah, Derrick was just the wrong kind of actor for that role. His voice was off and he moved too much.

I wish I could try the lottery again, but life has worked against me so I can't.

Hairspray is wonderful fun. Top 3 favorite shows! I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It's a "want to get out of your seat and dance" show with songs you'll go home singing.

I am thinking of flying to NY to see DRS and LitP over Thanksgiving.

I absolutely agree with you on Fiyero. DTL just seemed a bit slower and I didn't really believe he was enamored by Glinda in the beginning. But he was still good and definitely didn't take away from the show being wonderful or Eden rocking my socks off!

Ah, I'll be there the Saturday before Thanksgiving through Thanksgiving day. I actually have Left Orchestra Row A for DRS and Center Orchestra Row 2 for LiTP. Hope to see you there.

If I go I'll arrive on Thanksgiving. I'm a teacher so I can't leave until Wed night. So I won't get to see you. But we'll get to compare the performances we saw!

I'm going specifically to see DRS before the original contracts are up and to LitP before it closes. I don't know what to make my 3rd show... I've seen Wicked and Hairspray. Avenue Q is opening in Vegas before that. Spamamlot is coming here. Cut down version, but it's not one of my faves anyway so I can wait. Oooohhhh... maybe I'll see Spelling Bee!

Any suggestions anyone?

I suspect that she'll be in Broadway to replace Shoshana in January. She definatley deserves it.

Do you think Eden will go back to Elphaba on Broadway? There are so many rumors Ana will be Shoshana's replacement. That would be cool though.

I think think it could be either Ana or Stephanie or Eden. All of them are apparently very good so it's really anyone's guess.

From what I've heard, Stephanie will be on broadway as Elphie. I believe her contract is up in the first part of 2006, so she probably wont be Shoshana's replacement. I think it's better, because more people get to experience the Stephanie love.

As for Derrick Williams I liked the racial mix in the casting, but he was a bit too femme for Fiyero. But oh well, you can't have it all your way! I still love the show nonetheless!
