As someone who only bought tickets because they were cheap (thanks Linctix!) & to see Christian Borle & Andrew Rannells live, those videos are making me so much more excited to see the show in December! I've already watch both multiple times, & cannot wait!!
"Some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, take the moment & making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity." -Gilda Radner
I thought they all sounded great in the clip but there was too much touching that became distracting. I realize it was a concept of sorts but it was not working for me.
Don't hold your breath. It sounds like she is singing completely different (lower) harmonies in addition to taking lots of things down the octave. It sounds awful. I hate it when compromises are made like this. Does she not have an upper range?
Fiddle me this you seem to have wanted to hate this revival since 3/10/16, you're a neophyte, did you get rejected for the role? Anyone who thinks Stephanie Block can't belt is an idiot. I recommend you acquaint yourself with her singing and shut up until you have.

... Evidently not, or she would be singing the score as written."
Written scores can be revisited, based on what the show's musical director wants and needs. It's not limited to performers' capability. She's one of the most beloved Elphabas of all time who cut the very first demos for Defying Gravity, but do tell me how you think she doesn't have an upper range.

Also, it seems Finn is always adapting and changing his scores when the shows are revived. Perhaps it was changed even before they began rehearsals?
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Gladly. Elphaba doesn't require a high mix or a soprano range, both of which are required throughout the role of Trina. I understand that roles are often changed to suit the performer- I just enjoy the part as it was written and as it is usually performed, and it's a bit disappointing to hear someone who clearly doesn't have the range to sing it as written. She is a fantastic belter but this role, as written, requires more than that.
I tried to find the performance thread, but I just want to say I loved this show so much when I saw it. Reflecting on it now does anyone know who else was up for this revival? In any of the roles? Just curious
You folks know more about this than me. What are SJB's chances to be nominated for a Tony, and more remotely what are her chances to do I'm Breaking Down at the Tony's?
