So where did the whole, "Poor Ephie, the theatee is empty" thing come from? Are people just straight up making things up now?

It looks like no one from the current Broadway cast will be on tour if you follow the audition process on backstage.  If you view audition call posts, they had EPA and ECC auditions in February and March 2023. All of the principal roles were open. (If you look at the auditions in August 2021, Fanny and Nick were already cast.)

On the Backstage website, Callback Corner section, some actors stated that they had in-person callbacks or audition reel requests in March and April. It seems that they are currently having in person callbacks for the principals, including Fanny, in April. Rehearsals start at the beginning of August.

This is a SETA 2 contract. It pays a lot less than Broadway. Someone stated that someone in the Broadway cast told them that no one from the Broadway cast is going on tour.

I realize that some of this information has to be looked at skeptically because some of it is conflicting. For example, someone stated that there was an offer out for the role of fanny in late March. A few individuals said that they had in person callbacks for the role of Fanny in mid April.

This link is probably the best source to find out what is going on with the funny girl tour auditions:

It pays a lot lot less than Broadway salaries and most national tours. Top salary is only $4000 a week to play Fanny?

Do they get a per diem for housing and meals? Is that provided or something out of pocket? For someone working their way up in the business it's a real opportunity. There are also benefits attached because it's union and so Medical and Retirement benefits, which are nothing to sneeze at. Better than a lot of regular jobs and doing what the performer loves.

The posting about the principal auditions (EPA) may be confusing. They are auditioning for some possible replacements or covers on Broadway AND all principals for the tour. The Maximum $4000 is for the Broadway production ONLY. The touring production lists no maximum, but the minimum is $958 a week, which is 39% of the minimum for the Broadway production.

All equity and non-equity tours have a per diem and provide some type of housing. Many actors have stated that the equity tours do not provide enough to allow for safe comfortable housing. The non-equity tours provide very little money for housing. For a non-equity tour, if it ends abruptly, the actors often have to find their own way home.

I agree that this would be an excellent opportunity for a newer performer who wants to work and is trying to eventually work on Broadway. However, this would definitely be a financial step down for someone in the current Broadway production. They would not likely do the tour, unless they could not find any other Broadway work.

It would not be a great move for Julie Banko at this point in her career to take the entire tour. However, it is very common for a Broadway star to step in for the performances at the Hollywood Pantages theater on the tour. Usually that is done because they want to be seen by movie and television industry creative personnel. For example, Matthew Morrison and Marissa Jarret Winokur stepped into the hairspray national tour only for the Pantages.

Does anyone have access to the AEA website to view the different levels of SETA touring contracts?  I am curious to know the different levels and pay scales. This is supposed to be a SETA level 2. I think the level used partially depends on the number of performers in the show, but I could be wrong.

The funny girl tour is supposed to be a SETA level 2 contract. The minimum actor salary for the Funny Girl tour seems to be 39% of the minimum for the Broadway production.

The minimum salary for an actor is determined by the level of the SETA contract. Equity contract agreement rules do not require a maximum salary. That is probably decided by the producers. There are six levels of SETA touring contracts. Level 1 provides the highest minimum actor salary. (Some tours use Equity production contracts with higher salary minimums for the actors.)

The contract level is determined by the average weekly guarantee from the theaters that host the show. The weekly guarantee for purposes of determining the SETA level is adjusted for (a) number of equity contracts in the show and (b) Number of buses required to haul the scenery across the country.

Caught a few glimpses of tour set renderings in a cast TikTok, and it looks as though they’ve redesigned.

The rotating silo is gone and lots of painted flats & drops are in. It looks… sparse.

LOLOL.

I get this is old but reminded me of this story Barbra told:

"My niece recently watched a DVD of 'Funny Girl' for the first time and asked why I was singing songs from 'Glee,"' Streisand said, drawing laughs.
