Obviously Defying Gravity from Wicked
So much better from Legally Blonde
Blackout from In The Heights
Man Up from TBOM
Who'd I be from Shrek
Santa Fe from Newsies
One Day More from Les Mis
Bruce from Matilda
I'm Flying from Peter Pan. Cathy Rigby was fine but Sandy Duncan was the first Peter
Pan on Broadway to fly out over the audience and it was electrifying all three times I saw it. People were standing up screaming with excitement, no joke. Absolutely magical.
BTW, George Rose's replacement as Captain Hook, Christopher Hewitt, was much, much better than Rose.

I love how "Friend Like Me" ends the first act of Aladdin, definitely one of the first to come to mind.
Revival of Color Purple how Celie finds the letters and the theater goes dark...incredible climax to the show.
I really also enjoy the end of Finding never land's first act, definitely a very memorable part of the show.

I would add both a New Argentina and Mame, two of my three all-time favorite production numbers. The third is One Day More from Les Mis.
"I Am What I Am" from LA CAGE.
Also "Run Away" from SPAMALOT. There's a lot of running around, the music is frenetic, and the audience is laughing amd smiling as the house lights come up, leading to a fun vibe during intermission.
"I'd give my life for you" when a production has a fantastic Kim.

Steven Pasquale singing "Noooooooooooooooo" in The Wild Party.
I love Soliloquy from Carousel and its very brief follow-up scene which builds on the big emotional and hopeful high point at the end of the song to turn it into an ominous feeling of dread after seeing how the resolve Billy found during the song plays out in his act-closing decision.
Also love the tap battle/other tap dancing and general giddiness at the end of Act 1 in Something Rotten.
The act 1 finale of Next to Normal also fills me with hope/makes me cry with emotion, which also works for me as a very effective ending.
Also agree with the previously listed ones below:
Defying Gravity from Wicked
Santa Fe from Newsies
Anything Goes tap dance scene
So Much Better from Legally Blonde
One Day More from Les Miserables
Proud of Your Boy reprise from Aladdin (shortly after Friend Like Me)
Anthem from Chess

Hedwig is a 90 minute one-act, so what are you talking about?

The act one finale of Urinetown.
I also agree with the poster who mentioned "A Little Priest."
"A Little Priest" from Sweeney Todd
"Sunday" from Sunday in the Park with George
"One Day More!" from Les Miserables
"Mame" from MAME
"Defying Gravity" from Wicked

Say what you will about the show, but that has to be the one of the most fun numbers in any musical. The audience even joined in the performances I attended (which I would normally discourage, but for this kind of show it was more or less welcomed).

What about Our Love is God from Heathers? I feel like the song just perfectly sums up the essence of Heathers, and it's really a turning point for Veronica, when she starts to realize that J.D. is dangerous. It really gets the audience excited for Act 2.
Of Hamilton, Falsetto's, Great Comet, and DEH, "You Will Be Found" was the best this weekend.

It's still the finale of Act 1 - the fact that there isn't an Act 2 shouldn't matter. And I totally agree - fantastic Act 1 finale.
Wicked - Defying Gravity really is the high water marker.
Hamilton - Non Stop
Les Miserables - One Day More
DEH - You Will Be Found - so good my friend picked up her coat and was on her way out the theatre - she thought the show was over.... \0//
American Psycho had a brilliant act 1 (Hip to be Square) with the pretty brutal but brilliant staging of Bateman killing Paul Owen with the axe
Non-Stop - Hamilton
You Will Be Found - Dear Evan Hansen
One Day More - Les Miserables
Act I Finale - The Color Purple
Ever After - Into The Woods
I Believe - Spring Awakening
La Vie Boheme B - Rent
Bad Idea - Waitress
Defying Gravity - Wicked
Our Love Is Go - Heathers
Here I Go Again - Rock Of Ages
So Much Better - Legally Blonde
Santa Fe - Newsies
Bruce - Matilda: The Musical
There's a Fine, Fine Line - Avenue Q
Act I Finale - How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying
Big, Blonde and Beautiful - Hairspray
Our Time Now - Allegiance
AND MANY MORE!

Technically, there is a reprise of Friend Like Me and Proud of Your Boy after the show-stopping version, so it doesn't really end the act.

So you're saying that as a one-act musical, there isn't a song that ends act one?!?

"Defying Gravity" --WICKED
The Urinetown act one finale was hysterical. It managed to be funny while simultaneously poking fun at one act finales. This needs to be revived SOON.
