The 1974 Candide was one of my first Broadway shows and still ranks as one of my top theatrical experiences I've ever had. The production was magical and just plain fun. I rmember when I was watching it, I never wanted it to end.
Unfortunately when it was revived , Hal Prince used His NYCO production and did not try to reproduce the in the round experience.
Pity.

again, thank you for the Candide photos. I remember this show well. It was so much fun!
I really loved the set for 'Equus'. It simply works beautfully for the piece. I love it's combination of horse-stable wood planking with the upper balcony to suggest a surgeon's viewing level. I also love the use of gray, a rare color in set design.
I just received my DVD of Cyrano De Bergerac in the mail today (Kevin Kline was amazing by the way!), and the sets were beautiful!
Very simple changes for each act, but they were really effective. I especially loved the balcony scene (with the white curtain serving as the house, and the moon in the background) and the battle scene (with the torn up curtain and fallen timbers)
Shameless plug alert. Here is one of my designs, which happens to be my favorite out of my work. It is from a production of "Songs for a New World." Check out my other work at http://www.johnzuiker.com
Lets try the pic again.
The set of Wicked is by far my favorite. Always so vibrant and elaborate at points.
What? No more Woman in White set love?!!

oh my GOD. those pics from the Bregenz Festival are unbelievable. I literally gasped when I saw the one for Boheme. how do they DO that?!
and I love the In the Heights set. while I agree that it is pretty simple & there's not much to it, I think what makes it amazing is the lighting. it's pretty spectacular, from what I remember

"Unfortunately, with, O, being the "water" show and, Love, being the "Beatles" show, KA hasn't received the attention it truly deserves. (Please know that I am a great fan of both O and Love as well as Mystere and even Zumanity.) "
Robert LePage did Ka didn't he? his installations, opers and plays are always visually breathtaking.

LePage did do KA. And, I agree, he's an amazing talent. There is a wonderful DVD, KA Extreme, which explores the process of creating KA. LePage is interviewed extensively and his vision is just brilliant.
Again... for anyone who has the opportunity to be in Las Vegas, go see KA!

anyone have pics of 9 to 5set?
This is really all I could find for 9 to 5. The pictures don't really show off the set.
*EDIT*
I couldn't get the pictures any smaller, so just go to the website:

What's more amazing is the set transitions. They literally can transform from an office setting to a parking lot to Violet's house to Hart's bedroom in about a minute.

KA was probably the worst show I've ever seen. Don't let the amazing commercials and "making-of" fool you. It was just plain boring, the theatre was burning hot (literally- the stage was a pit of fire at the beginning), the mingling acrobats at the beginning were annoying, and most of the visuals and acrobatics were very disappointing, especially compared to the magnificent O. It did have its moments, though.

I agree, the set (and, for that matter, everything else) for KA was fantastic! As was the set for Love.

I've been looking for pictures of that set for a while, but have never found anything.
