There is this one section in the 'Music Man' during 'Marian the Librarian' where everything just works for me.
It begins with group of girls squealing over the book , then to Tommy and Zaneeta's 'Romeo and Juliet' thing and then when Marian points out the chaos- the music swells and the camera pans out to show the whole library.
Since I was like 5 it has given me chills.

The "Born in a Trunk" sequence in "A Star is Born" with Judy Garland is the defination of sublime.

I have several:
1) Steppin to the Bad Side in "Dreamgirls" - I really loved the visual feel...I've never been that swept away by a musical sequence before.
2) There are Worse Things I Could Do in "Grease" - Gotta love Stockard.
3) Home in "The Wiz" - the film, and Diana both had some potential...it was lost, but this is a shining moment in it.
4) Sweet Transvestite in "Rocky Horror Picture Show" - Tim Curry. Fishnets. Enough said.
5) Most of "Cabaret"

When "Funny Honey" starts in Chicago, and there's that outline of Renee. Oh, and you've gotta love that moment when the overture changes to the "All That Jazz" music.
Oh, and for as crappy as Rent was, there were some great shots. In "Another Day" when there's that swooping shot that rolls up over Rosario as she's putting her arms up, for example.
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

I second "Born In A Trunk!" Totally phenomenal. And another from A Star Is Born would have to be the "The Man That Got Away" scene. That song made me a Garland fan.
The Cell Block Tango in the movie version of Chicago gave me chills, especially when the red lights lit up the entire "stage" and you saw all the bars. I get chills every time.
In Funny Girl during "Don't Rain On My Parade" when she's singing on the boat, and the comes around from the side. I just love that shot. It's breathtaking.

The Sound of Music has been playing on ABC family all weekend, and I just love "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" oh so much.
West Side Story - "Somewhere." So amazing, even if they took out the ballet sequence.

DITTO to Roxanne in MOULIN ROUGE. It is my favourite moment in the entire film...
I love Cell Block Tango in CHICAGO... the choreography and just how everything seemlessly ties in together. I'm a sucker for dance numbers.
And in the RENT film, I absolutely adore the deleted ending where the actors re-assembled into their Seasons of Love formation on stage with the spotlights with only Angel's spot empty. And then he walks back on... so cheesy but I honestly loved it.

I'm kind of obsessed with the competition dance between Bob Fosse & Tommy Rall in My Sister Eileen. It's AMAZING.
Pretty much any time Fred Astaire dances, too. I guess if I have to choose I'll go with "One for My Baby" from The Sky's the Limit, an incredibly underrated movie...

Posted: 4/8/07 at 6:41pmI love the end of My Fair Lady when Eliza comes back to Higgins. It just warms my heart everytime. And though most of the movie wasn't all that great, I still love when the chandelier comes up and the overture blasts during Phantom, although it's more exhilarating on stage.

THERE'S GOTTA BE SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS - Sweet Charity
F*cking brilliant choreography.

Posted: 4/8/07 at 6:46pmTwo- When Audrey Hepburn decsends the flight of stairs in her fabulous red dress and scarf in Funny Face and is shouting "Take the picture! Take the picture!" That whole segment where she's modeling, really, is great. My other ultimate favorite is in Oliver! when Oliver is coming out of the cabbage wagon and seeing London for the first time. The color, the music and the actor's expression all blend together so beautifully. It showed a child's innocent reaction to such an overwhelming environment. Just one of the many reasons why Oliver! deservedly won Best Picture.

I love it when the camera sweeps up during the street scene in "who will buy" in OLIVER!
the whole song production is incredible, but that camera motion just passes shivers down my spine.

ANY Busby Berkley of the 1920s-30s is brilliant (and hilarious. Giant heads of Ruby Keeler twirling about in one movie...)
Also, the song "Isn't It Romantic" from the film Love Me Tonight starring Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette MacDonald is BRILLIANT!
