What are the thoughts on the first show to announce their closing date after the TONY's tonight?
Next Fall?
Play - Next Fall
Musical - Fela!
although I don't think we'll see any close as quickly as Guys & Dolls did last year. Fela! could still make it through the summer.

i agree. its such a shame. its going to be next fall. musical wise i think it will be million dollar quartet.
I just bought a ticket to Next Fall on TDF to make sure I see it before its inevitable closing sometime in the next few weeks.
The real question is whether Red will extend, recast, both, or neither.

Do you think Next Fall might wait a week or so? Although they didn't win anything, they gave by far the most lasting impression when the actors talked about their plays. They also had a nice audience reaction with all of the jokes.
NEXT FALL - gone by the 4th of July
FELA! - wouldn't be surprised to see this one gone by Labor Day
Next Fall and Million Dollar Quartet. Once MDQ got nominated, I figured it'd pull a move like Cry-Baby did. But it won an award, so we'll see. S:|
Next Fall. Maybe July 4th closing weekend.
Musical is a tough call. Probably Fela. Million Dollar Quartet will get a better reception because of the known music and Levi.
Ljay-I hope you're right (and I tend to think you are). The show will probably find an audience and I do think its performance was very energetic and will generate some interest due to its association with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Next Fall for play
I'd think Million Dollar Quartet would close before Fela! Though I don't see either of them lasting past labor day.
Fela's grosses during Tony season have been $500K+, which must be above its nut. I think the show will be open for the rest of the summer, although I'm not sure it will last past the movement of Sahr (and probably others) to London in the fall.
Both MDQ and Next Fall must have very low nuts. MDQ is probably reaching its nut right now; Next Fall may or may not be.
I don't think any other show is in danger of an early closing.
NEXT FALL is the only show I see that is truly in danger at the moment.
NEXT FALL is probably the best bet. As for musicals, I think that all will last through the summer.

For what it's worth, all of my non-theatre savvy friends that watched the show are now raving about wanting to see American Idiot...
I think Angela Lansubry will leave A Little Night Music after her loss tonight.
As a side note, I am curious to see what Memphis' grosses will be like for a while after the Tony win. I wonder if it will be able to increase its sales enough to sustain a run through next summer. Spring Awakening was the most short-lived Best Musical since Titanic in 1997. I am curious to see where Memphis will fall on that scale.
I wish I could have seen Next Fall, but it looks like the most likely to close given ticket sales recently.
In my fantasy world it would be american idiot, but most likely Millon Dollar Quartet & Next Fall.
I actually think that AI did a pretty good job of enticing people last night.
I also thought that the Memphis number was really good. It seemed high energy to me.
I thought American Idiot's performance last night was the only one that would sell any tickets.
MDQ and Next Fall will be the first to go.
It would surprise me if Lend Me a Tenor bumped up its closing date.

Labor Day for FELA. Their emphasis will be on their European tour to try to recoup.
