Who cares
Did not see it and have no intention of seeing it. You enjoy it, great.
I do feel slightly unqualified to discuss Fun Home in this discussion, you know, since I actually saw it. Twice.
Spring Awakening can't be better than everything else because "everything else" includes Rent.
Rent can't be better than everything else because "everything else" includes Spring Awakening.
It really hasn't been banned in "many places".
I haven't even seen the show and haven't heard any music from it. Im just giving a prediction based on facts. I have no opinion on the actual show since I barely know anything about it.
Oh my God, you didn't SEE the show? Then you really have no business talking about how many Tony wins it's going to receive. See the show and, you know, actually familiarize yourself with it, then feel free to talk in depth about it.
When you said everything else, I thought you meant everything else from that season lol
LOL Sutton, thats BS. Everybody knows that you can have good tony predictions before even seeing the show just by hearing the talk. And where in this conversation did i talk about Fun Home "in depth"
Yeah no, it's not bulls*it. It's incredible stupid but do your thing.
But, don't spread LIES and say things like the "graphic memoir that has been banned in many places." That's an egregious lie, just like your whole "bi-sexuals totally don't exist!" argument.
It actually has been banned though sooo idk wtf you're talking about
Also, your quote is fake

You really need to let go of this thing you have where you tell people who are free to post whatever they want wherever they want that they're doing it wrong.
My quote is from YOUR post. Look above. You said it was banned in many places. Do you understand that it hasn't been banned permanently anywhere? And definitely not MANY places? You need to actually do your research before posting things.
People have tried to ban the book = true. They have been successful = false.

Oh I know haterobics, this Phillypinto person doesn't seem to understand what that actually means.
My quote is fake, huh?

I think they have banned the book in places because I definately heard that from someone who actually worked on the show. Maybe not officially banned, but banned in some places nonetheless. And the bisexual quote is fake.

Sigh. This has nothing to do with anything. Fun Home is a beautifully crafted musical. That's all. Maybe it will win more awards than it already has. Maybe it won't.
You said you know nothing about it, never saw it, never heard any music from it but you know someone involved? Right. It hasn't been banned anywhere, that's a fact. Sadly, people actually admitting they are wrong and retracting untrue statements are a rarity on here, so I won't expect you to do that.
Sorry, let me edit my original posting:

And yet you won't let anything go.
I've heard things about it and I've read the memoir and I know someone involved. How do those things make me know about the music or the musical version of this if I haven't seen it?
"And yet you won't let anything go."
ROFL. I let 99% of things go on this board. I believe it's you that responds to every single one of Roxy's post with bitchy disdain, and it was you that responded to all of Liza's Headband's weird statements about you and tons of other subjects. You didn't let that go despite posters telling you to STOP doing it after months and months of threads.
I don't need to do anything you tell me to do. This is a message board on the internet which you don't run. Perhaps you're the one who needs to let things go.

"and it was you that responded to all of Liza's Headband's weird statements about you"
That's definitely one way of looking at it.
"How do those things make me know about the music or the musical version of this if I haven't seen it? "
This does beg the question of how lacking all of this knowledge makes you think it will not only be nominated but also win best new musical, though, no?
Because of what Everybody has said about it!! I've only heard good things. It's called a prediction. You don't need to see the show to make a prediction. I've done it my whole life and get it right most of the time lmao
I hope you're right, Philly, but a lot of things can work against Fun Home.
1. Honeymoon in Vegas=$$$ hit possibility on the road.
2. Fun Home on Broadway doesn't translate the way it did at the Newman (although I see no reason why it won't-it's just a possibility).
3. Side Show gets categorized as a new musical-that makes it tougher (as I've said elsewhere, I think they'd be smart to leave it in revival-they'd get a nod pretty much).
4. It doesn't get as good reviews (although the way the critics are building up shows I thought were around a B-/C+, this might work in favor of Fun Home-but I am unsure on this one).
I would love in my heart for you to be right, but a lot may well happen.
I'm surprised how much people love this show. At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, when I saw it at the Public, knowing nothing about it, I thought it was at most just ok. It never occurred to me that it would be considered by so many to be a great new musical.
I'm also surprised that anyone might suggest they get rid of "Changing my Major" which I loved and, for my money, was the best song in the show. (if I had my way, they'd get rid of that annoying cutesy number the kids sing about growing up in a funeral home).
Mind you I'm delighted that there's a successful show with a lesbian protagonist, I just - I know I'm about to be blasted for this - didn't think this was a great show.
From the original post: "I think everyone wants Fun Home to get the tony [sic]"
Everyone? Doubt it. "Get the Tony"? Which one?
