I think everyone wants Fun Home to get the tony. The Public theatre is a god given gift and when Caroline did not get the tony I died.
Welcome back to life!

Jeez, the afterlife must suck if this is what you're up to now...

I just think that Fun Home really will get the tony amazing piece of theatre.
I think we should all just wait and see the other worthy contestants (Honeymoon in Vegas, Finding Neverland, An American in Paris, Doctor Zhivago) first!
Though in the past, the Tony winners for Best Musical had always differed, sometimes it goes to the HIT SHOW of the season that is most likely to have a GREAT TOUR (Throughly Modern Millie, Hairspray, Spamalot, Jersey Boys, In the Heights, Memphis, Kinky Boots). Other times it goes to the most acclaimed show of the season in need of a box office boost (Avenue Q, Spring Awakening, Once, A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder). Though every once in a while, it does go to a show that's both acclaimed and a hit at the same time (The Lion King, The Producers, Billy Elliot, The Book of Mormon). As for Fun Home, we'll just have to wait and see...

^^^ Not to mention we need to wait and see the Broadway transfer of Fun Home.
At least let us go thru the motions and let other shows get nominated before bestowing a Tony on it
One reason I distance myself from theater is this unhealthy attraction to a show
To say you died because a show did not win is a bit much
I found Caroline ok but not worth dying over .To be honest, no show is worth dying for or even getting sick over if it does not win any awards.

I hear they are adding a Muslim context for the Broadway run.
You do realize, that a Tony award is not the only sign of success, right?
And since no one has seen this version of it yet, or a bunch of other shows, this MONTHS premature. Again.

Like it's healthy to praise every show that sucks.
Didn't this show get great reviews? I think it will end up winning best musical especially since its pretty group-breaking. I haven't heard any music from the show, but I'm thinking this will be Tesori's year!!
Seems like a strong contender for Book and Score, but it's tough sell for Best Musical.
Finding Neverland
Honeymoon in Vegas
The Last Ship or American in Paris
Fun Home
Those are my predictions for best musical. The only other show that was really well reviewed was Honeymoon in Vegas but since Fun Home is deep I think it'll win a lot, and has great chances at some of the acting categories as well
Philly, this show got almost universal praise from critics and patrons alike. There is a Fun Home thread full of wonderful things about the show. But, that doesn't mean it will win anything.
If the show got so much "universal praise from critics" more than any other show thats coming in, why wouldn't it win? Honeymoon in Vegas is fun and will be great on tour, but it doesn't stand a chance against Fun Home
Your opinion. You may be right but you may be wrong.Either way, life goes on.

Mr _________ announced a long time ago that he had no interest in "Fun Home." This apparently allows him to come from an uninformed place of superiority regarding the show.

Now we shouldn't be judging on how those shows did critically before, we have to wait and see not only how the Broadway productions will stack up, but also word on An American in Paris, Doctor Zhivago, as well as what changes they'll be making to Finding Neverland
Though based on your predictions, Honeymoon in Vegas could probably win as Tony voters often tend to vote for what they most enjoyed.
Thoroughly Modern Millie>Urinetown
Avenue Q>Wicked
Spamalot>Light in the Piazza
The Pajama Game>Sweeney Todd
Memphis>Fela
Kinky Boots>Matilda
A Gentleman's Guide>Everything else

But, wouldn't AMERICAN IN PARIS be a revival since it's a classic musical?
The original movie is the classic, but it's going to be a stage adaptation!
While you never know what the Tony Committee will decide, Jeffrey is likely correct: the stage version is new, and that is what the classics ruling refers to...not the source material.
Spring Awakening>everything else
Rent>everything else
This show is sorta groud-breaking like rent and spring awakening.
Urinetown, Wicked, Light in the Piazza, Sweeney Todd revival, Fela, and Matilda weren't really groundbreaking. Fun-Home is based off of a graphic memoir that has been banned in many places. With amazing performances, a score by Tesori, and rave reviews, i can't see this not winning the 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical
