Has it been announced that she would be taking 2 shows off per week? The only absence I’ve seen announced so far is 1 performance at the end of April about which they gave ticket buyers over 4 and a half months notice."
Nope...but people are assuming.

, Streisand knew others could play Fanny just as good so she made sure to not miss performances.
LOL- nobody can do FG like Streisand. The is the main reason a revival has not been mounted on BWAY- and Ilf you think FG will be a huge success this time around- with Beanie- time will tell.

As others have stated, vocal health and the demands of a role have begun to be taken more seriously in recent years. On top of that, there is the mental health of a performer. In days gone by if you were perhaps not at your vocal best, you could rest assured that you could still weave your spell over the audience, whilst they were contained in the theatre. Now, one cracked or sub par note can be taken out of context and find it’s way onto YOUTube in a mega mix of ‘worst vocal moments’
the pressure for vocal ‘perfection’ is very different
It’s also not just singing. If you see someone who is performing eight shows a week, you are seeing an exercise in conservation. It’s physically impossible to give your all to every dramatic of choreographic moment, you have to find a way of ensuring you can survive over the course of a contract and not moment to moment. Any actor will tell you the struggle that is between artistic integrity and survival.
alternates go some way in rectifying these issues. I would far rather see a performer spewing flames in a major dramatic moment, knowing they don’t have a two day show coming up, than to see someone having to play everything at fifty percent so they can can do their nervous breakdown scene twice on Saturdays

My first recollection of this matinee alternate was in the late 70s with EVITA. Prior to that, all actors did the full 8 performances a week schedule. Streisand did her 8 performances a week and regularly lightened the weight on herself on 2 show days by removing extra verses from several songs during matinee performances. She had her 2 versions of FUNNY GIRL. Over her dead body would her understudy go on. After her original standby Lainie Kazan got glorious reviews when she filled in, Streisand knew others could play Fanny just as good so she made sure to not miss performances. Lainie was let go from her contract shortly after. "
I went to the very first performance of Evita on Broadway and did not know they had this alternate Eva Perón on matinees. Terry was fine but I wanted to see LuPone.
The first performance of "Evita" on Broadway was a matinee? Was it a Wed, or a weekend? That's very unusual.

EVITA’s first preview performance was Monday September 10, 1979. Opening Night was Tuesday September 25, 1979.
Thanks, BrodyFosse123. And, I assume it was an evening performance, and not a matinee.

Also of note, Nancy Opel was LuPone’s understudy and filled in for LuPone. Terri Klausner was the matinee Eva - she didn’t understudy LuPone.

why start shelling out all the salaries and set building for a dud of a show.
Bring it back in a year when it might have a chance to win a TONY for revival. No way Beanie beats Sutton, none of the other parts have anything with nominating.
MUSIC MAN has all the buzz and talent this year, Funny Girl will be one of the stories you hear about.. why did the even try.."
You bring up a very good- interesting point and it's not selling well! I feel this year's revivals race for nominations will be all about Company, Caroline or Change and The Music Man!

More demanding than Mama Rose? Dolly? Any Merman show? Sans microphones? :) More demanding than Stop the World, in which the lead character never shuts up and never stops singing? Sans mic. Different ethic these days and I understand that.
Cannot wait to hear who the alternate is! It's cute that people thought that Beanie would have a completely different, gorgeous voice in three months time and she was not chosen based on who she knows. The comments about the Kennedy Center concert are amusing though.

Dolly is an easy sing. Rose doesn't require the extreme high belting that some modern roles parts do. Stop the World doesn't have the challenging writing that School of Rock did.
Plus, 8 shows a week is still the norm. So ethics haven't changed apparently.

Funny Girl has a great score- and whoever is singing the Fanny role has to kill it- because the storyline is not the strength of this production. To sing I'm the Greatest Star- Don't Rain On My Parade- high dramatic points in the show- the singer has to have a voice with dramatic range- aside from vocal abilities- to bring it home. Hoping Beanie is up to the task.

If there's going to be an alternate they need to tell people soon. Beanie may not be a household name for everyone, but she's still the star of the production. People will want to see her.

My Mom has stated she ONLY wants to see Beanie - this is solely based on her performance in Impeachment.
We have tickets for a Weds matinee during previews so it’s basically a toss up at the moment if we will be seeing it or not! Hoping they announce soon if there will be an alternate.

I think the odds are in your favor. Since the producers announced that she would not be doing that Saturday night at the end of April, I would think that they would’ve also announced that she wasn’t doing matinees if the intent was to give ticket buyers a heads up about her attendance. Of course if she gets sick, that’s a totally different story. But that could happen at any time.
I submitted an exchange request weeks ago when they announced Beanie wouldn't be in for that Saturday night an April and I still haven't heard back from anyone. I tried the customer service email and number from Jujamcyn... nothing. How can I get these tickets exchanged? I don't know what to do?

Same here. I called this past Monday, and they resubmitted the request for me, but again I didn’t hear back. So I called again yesterday, and was told they’re no longer doing exchanges, just refunds (they said refunds are just much faster to process, so presumably it’s because of the high volume of requests and/or staffing issues). I got a refund and had to repurchase for another date.
Also, when you call, be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes before you can talk to someone.

Just to add, I had success with this number. I think it’s a Jujamcyn-specific SeatGeek line: 1 (888) 985-9421

I had similar issue trying to get a refund. You can also email - hi@seatgeek.com and customerservice@jujamcyn.com in addition to the one Taffy listed. I got a response from hi@seatgeek.com . I think customerservice is a shared inbox and my email was forwarded to an agent who got back to me a few days later.

I called the seatgeek line and they told me I can only do this directly with Jujamcyn because it's a cast issue. My head's gonna explode I'm so frustrated.
They don't know how to do exchanges. I hate seatgeek deeply because the hell they put me through when I was trying to exchange MR tickets. It took two weeks, countless people telling me different things until they gave up and told me they "couldn't figure it out". They refunded me and I just booked it for the day I wanted. That's the way, imo.

Will they refund everything? Including fees? No questions asked. They told me they couldnt do it just because it was a cast issue and would be able to do it for other issues which is ridiculous. But I could just call back and say its a travel issue or something.
