I'm seeing this next Sunday, and I've been waiting to hear anything from the score to get an idea of to expect. Well, I definitely wasn't expecting this, and now I'm even more intrigued to see it. A while back, I saw a reaction to the reading in January that said the show was unexpectedly moving, and now I can see why.
Sorry but that sounds so generic and trite.

Oy.
well that immediately turned me off from knowing anything about this show.
I know the show’s whole vibe is irreverence but yikes.

I'm curious now, too. I wasn't expecting that either-makes me wonder what else is in store.

A despicable marketing choice that you'd think someone would have had the common sense to question.

That is one of the STUPIDEST ads ever. And Jason Tam....who I adore as a performer and person.......liked that post?!? There are literally people in that picture whose actions led to the horrible outcome for some of the police defending the capital. The ad is NOT provocative nor clever nor thought provoking- it's lazy and unprofessional and horribly disrespectful. The person who thought that would be so edgy to put up.............time to find a new profession.
To be fair, Tam is the lead in this.
People thinking this was somehow going to be a non stop laugh fest about the current state of the GOP today is mistaken. Nowhere is it advertised as a musical comedy. And that marketing is perfect considering the audience who would be interested in seeing this. Jason Tam is an exciting actor and his songs are beautiful in this. But Ben Fankhauser playing Lindsey Graham, Roy Cohn, and Joey Robinette will absolutely bring some laughs.

Um...people died January 6th? That ad is MAGA-level tastelessness.

They may not explicitly be saying it’s a comedy but it is very much being advertised like a comedy.
Never thought I'd start seeing pearl clutching over Jan 6th jokes that people have been making since like literally the day of. People need to unclench, the joke was funny.
Correct ^

Intentionally using an insurrection against our government in a marketing campaign for a play is just classless.
What's next? Tickets for $9.11 on 9/11?
And telling people to "unclench" is so ****in' juvenile it is no wonder those who are doing so find the advertisement acceptable.
Don't buy a ticket then? Wait, did I just solve your entire problem?!
It's a musical in f*cking Soho. Jesus Christ.

Just you wait until I tell you about a President's Day Sale! Yeah, again I'll tell you to unclench.
Here’s an idea…
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions!

And if you didnt want a response, you would write it in a diary and not on a message board.

Lots of Broadway names in this. Lots of seats available.

The writers of this wrote the genuinely dreadful Straight at Theatre Row, so that should tell you all you need to know about this. Pass.
