In regards to filling the Circle:
THE STORY OF MY LIFE, the new two-person musical directed by Richard Maltby, Jr. could definitely take this house.
Also: any one of several straight plays.

Another composing team who will probably never write for Broadway again
The landscape is littered with those who tried, got eviscerated & gave up on Broadway. An example, those who brought us The Yearling.

Because you posted it before it was officially confirmed. The Playbill.com article was the first official confirmation.

Posted: 5/7/08 at 5:53pmScaryclowns - that was the one! thanks. couldn't rememeber the name. STORY OF MY LIFE would work well at the Circle, in my opinion.

Now thats going a bit too far. The two writers and the four performers and the dozens of other young people who worked on this show deserve credit. Life is a series of lessons. They tried, the opened a show on Broadway- that's a lot more than most people have done.
Was it the most brillant thing ever to happen on Broadway? Definitly not. But no need to attack people saying they'll never work on Broadway. They're young- you never know. If we judged producers by the shows that flopped in the same way- there would be no one working on Broadway.

whatever2, they do have to be careful to make sure that the cast and crew are told, because inevitably your query would've turned into a frenzy of speculation that the cast themselves may see here before checking in.
i did want to see it before it closed, too bad i never got the chance.

re: GLORY DAYS closed per playbill#94
Posted: 5/7/08 at 6:28pmI have the demo. I like it. I fell bad that "Generation Apathy" and "Good old Glory Days" aren't going to be professionally recorded.

You know, I really hope this gets recorded. I mean, they sort of screwed these guys out of a Broadway run after giving them hope...
They could at least shell out some dough for a recording.
Hey...High Fidelity did it.
re: GLORY DAYS closed per playbill#97
Posted: 5/7/08 at 6:49pmAw. That's actually kind of sad.
re: GLORY DAYS closed per playbill#98

It is sad, but mostly it is bad producing to not have enough money stockpiled to keep a small show like this running for more than one night.
It's not like they had any troubles during previews that drained their investment.
Just really bad planning.
re: GLORY DAYS closed per playbill#99
Posted: 5/7/08 at 7:04pmIt was absolutely a mistake to bring this show to Broadway. Saying it's sad is in no way denying that. But I do feel bad for these guys, because really, they're a bunch of rising talents who are now the victims of bad producing choices.

--- "Why are we mourning this? The show stunk. The problem wasn't "not ready/appropriate for Broadway." It just wasn't good--not the story, not the nonexistent character development, not the charisma-less performances."
Glad you said that, FrontRow.
I've been getting really tired of the comments suggesting that it deserved/should have had a home Off-Broadway. Sure, an Off-Broadway venue would better suit the piece than one on Broadway (which just saying feels awkward because this had NO business whatsoever on Broadway and the critical reaction/closing prove that), but that doesn't mean it should even be playing Off-Broadway. The show just isn't really any good.
The writers, I'm sure, will keep learning and working. Maybe they'll have a more successful outing later, but this piece is what it is.

I just got done reading all the reviews for this show that someone posted on the castrecl list. I swear, reading all the reviews took longer than the actual run of the show!
Anyway, I feel sad that this happened (the closure), but hey, you live and you learn, either to write/produce better musicals, or to go into another field. At least they had the opportunity, which a lot of people don't seem to get these days.
Anyway, I put in my order for the Opening/Closing night Playbill, so even though I didn't get to see it, I'll have a part of theatre history (infamy).
