do we know if grease is actually going to open? k thnx!
Broadwayismylife, I hate to say it but just because your thread post is in all caps doesn't make it seem more important then it really is. It actualy makes it annoying as hell. And to be blunt with you the average broadway fan has more better things to think about then this bull**** revival of the show.
And they haven't even offically announced what the damn theatre yet. Its almost a sure bet that its going into the brooks atkinson theatre but I personally find it sad that ticketmaster is already selling tickets to this show. Under venue it lists TBA. This is the first time I have ever seen an event on ticketmaster with a venue that is not yet determend.
My bet is that that this show will last two and half preformances.
Seriously? They're selling tickets without a theatre? (I'm in the UK and haven't been following the minutiae of this one) How do you know what seats you're going to get? What sort of muppet pays $115 for this:
I mean there is speculation but nothing offical. I know that the only theatres that are sold via ticketmaster are the new amsterdam and all the nederlandr theatres. So it would probally be in a nderlander house. There is a limited engagment playing at the Brooks Atkinson which is why people are assuming that theatre.

if it IS the Atkinson, people better look closely before getting a side seat. you can't see sh*t on the far sides of the orchestra of that theatre
My guess is that's where the rush seats will be.

Winston, haven't you learned yet not to criticize others when your own post is filled with spelling and grammatical errors?
Has anyone heard any news regarding the possibility of rush for this show?

Sounds like many people will be rushing out of the theatre when they see this production. A Doodie playing Danny doesn't look so great. Yes, it has a large advance but what happens when that runs out?
hey. i have family and friends who work at a broadway theatre in some way or another. They said its sold out for months. Seats are going quick. So its a slight chance theres gonna be a student rush line.
I have my tickets for the third day of previews.
I was wondering about this today. Is there really that much of a demand to see Grease? A guess bus tours from out of town pick shows way in advance.
There's got to be some kind of discounted ticket. It'd be horrible if there wasn't, especially since the show is so youth-oriented.

You're kidding, right? Ever heard of a fellow by the name of John Travolta?

No offense to your sources, but GREASE is not sold out for months. Chunks of the theatre are blocked off for premium seating and are easily available if you want to pay $250.00 or whatever they're charging. These seats will not be purchased and will be released the day of performance for regular price.
Nobody said anything about a "student rush line." You're obviously not familiar with the various types of rush policies. Shows that offer rush tickets set a certain number of seats aside for every performance and sell them on the day of for a discounted price. So even if GREASE were sold out the wazoo (which it is not) -- if there is going to be a rush policy, these tickets would not have been sold already.
Seats are NOT "going quick." That is what the producers want you to believe, though. So congratulations. The game is that they create a false sense of urgency by making less seats available for each performance and as the performance date comes closer, they release more seats. This gets people buying ASAP, because they feel like otherwise they are going to miss their chance. So I'm glad you've got your tickets for the third preview! Whew!

Go see "Hairspray" and "Legally Blonde" instead!
There was no need for people to start with the nastiness. Broadwayismylife only asked a question. The nasty response was unnecessary.

As per Ticketmaster premium tickets are sold out or there are a only a couple seats left on any particular date till the end of August and for most of September. Are you saying the producers are holding onto some block of premium tickets in the hopes of creating a false sense of urgency. Or do you believe that all premium tickets are released but are not really almost all sold out as per Ticketmaster?
I saw the Grease show. Max, was lovable and charismatic. Can he bring that out onstage in 2.5 hours...well, we will see. But if he can the show will be a hit....and so will he.
The rest of the cast and creative team is obviously Broadway caliber from what I have seen or heard about them.and with an advance of 13.5 million so far, it is off to a good start.
I am seeing Legally Blonde and Grease next month. But in my opion LB will be so so so much better.

Glad to hear you've already made up your mind about that.

They are selling tickets into January. I hope it runs for a long, long time.
Ok, ok, I am a shill - no worse than any other :)
Yankee said that back in February. The show was flopping, and I think it was not an unreasonable possibility.

It's funny how critical people can be of this show, yet they suggest pure fluff like Legally Blonde or Hairspray as better alternatives.
I for one probably wouldn't be interested in seeing this, but I have a cousin who's obsessed with Grease. So I came into this thread on the off chance that perhaps I could work out a way to surprise her with tickets.
And all I get is 20 messages full of heresay, speculation, and bitchiness...
