How much does the Gypsy CD cost at the theatre itself?
Thanks

Posted: 12/6/08 at 10:55pmOVERpriced. Get it from Barnes & Noble, they have bonus disc with more songs that isn't available anywhere else.

Posted: 12/6/08 at 11:08pmExactly. Don't EVER purchase a cast recording directly at the theatre. You can almost buy 2 for what they're charging at the theatre. Its discusting.

Posted: 12/6/08 at 11:12pmUnless it's something that is only sold at the theater, like the Buckley CD of "Sunset Boulevard."

Posted: 12/6/08 at 11:13pmEverything is overpriced. I paid $3.50 for Peanut M&M's at Studio 54. The only reason I paid that price was the man didnt tell me the price until they were in my hands and I didn't want to be rude, and also I hadn't eaten all day. Both reasons were my fault. But I was in such a good mood from ACT I of Sunday in the Park, I would have purchased the rights for naming the theatre "BroadwayBoy2 Theatre"

Ok thanks,
What about posters? Is there a store in NYC that sell cheaper ones?
#6re: *GYSPY question
Posted: 12/6/08 at 11:22pmthere are, but apparently Gypsy is selling signed windowcards for $50, which I must admit isn't terrible, if they're signed by the full cast.

Yeah, posters are pretty standard. Unless you want to wait until after the show closes and a store might be going out of business or just trying to get rid of their old stuff, you won't pay less than $20. (That's how I got my LENNON poster for about $3.)
If it's a brand new cast recording that won't be on sale anywhere yet and you can't wait for it, get it at the theater, because the theater doesn't charge tax. If you buy it at B&N for the same price, you'll pay tax on it.
However, almost all the big retailers (B&N, Virgin) put discounts on their CDs as soon as they arrive in stores, so if you really care about saving a few dollars, take your time and look around for the best deal.

You should totally get it at Barnes and Noble. And if you have iTunes, then you should edit the tracks so that it looks something like this:
1. Overture
2. May We Entertain You
3. Some People
4. Seattle to Los Angeles
5. Small World
6. Baby June & Her Newsboys/Let Me Entertain You
7. Let Me Entertain You (scene, dialogue and underscoring)
8. Have An Eggroll, Mr. Goldstone
9. Little Lamb
10. You'll Never Get Away From Me
11. Dainty June & Her Farmboys
12. Broadway
13. Miss Cratchitt (dialogue lines, scenes)
14. If Momma Was Married
15. All I Need Is The Girl
16. All I Need Is The Girl (musical scene change music)
17. Everything's Coming Up Roses
18. Entr'acte
19. Madame Rose's Toreadorables
20. Together Wherever We Go
21. You Gotta Get A Gimmick
22. You Gotta Get a Gimmick (musical scene change music)
23. The Strip
24. The Strip (musical scene change music)
25. Rose's Turn
26. Act II Finale
27. Exit Music
28. Tomorrow's Mother's Day
29. Mother's Day (Alternate Version)
30. Small World/Momma's Talkin' Soft
31. Nice She Ain't
32. Smile, Girls
33. Who Needs Him?
34. Three Wishes For Christmas
Sorry, I'm a perfectionist. I did the same thing with the South Pacific cast recording.

Posted: 12/7/08 at 10:51amOccasionally I've found windowcards for less at the theater (depending ~ I know I paid $20 for Sunday... at another location because I didn't want to risk them being out at Studio 54, and they were less at the theater), but basically the difference is you don't pay tax at the theater. You also don't usually have the option to pay $1 or so for cardboard at the theater if that's important to you.
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

GYPSY1527, would you mind listing the numbers in the correct order as the cut numbers would have appeared in the show?
Thanks in advance.

I split the "Miss Cratchitt" (dialogue lines, scenes) file so now it corresponds the way she says them -- the dialogue before "Broadway" and after "Broadway".

Buying any memorabilia at the performance is like paying that outrageous mythical suggested retail list price you see in distributor catalogues. However there are lots of folks with the big do-re-mi buck$ who will do it though. :)
That's why there are those great vendor days in theater row for the rest of us. :)
