Hope I'm not jumping the gun from someone for starting this. Previews begin tomorrow night!! Very anxious to hear about this one, the team involved make this promising for sure. Anyone attending the first preview?
Have a great time and please let us know what you think. I've never read Titus Andronicus so am curious whether that's needed in order to understand the story more.
Looking forward to seeing this in April and glad to hear it's a one-acter. I'm seeing Lear a couple of days before and that sounds like an endurance test so far from the early posts. (I assume it will end in time for me to make it to Gary, haha.)
Just remembering you've had an "and"
When you're back to "or"
Makes the "or" mean more than it did before
Wow. Andrea has withdrawn due to an injury. I know Julie is amazing but this is quite disappointing. Performances will begin March 9 now. Kristine Nielsen will play Andrea’s role and Julie will take over for Kristine.
LesWickedly, if you had read the article that you posted you would see that nothing "went down."
"Martin bows out on doctors' orders after breaking four ribs while in rehearsal. "I am heartbroken to have to leave the production and have tried to convince the doctor that my funny bone is stronger than my broken ribs," she said in a statement. "I love everyone involved in this beautiful play and will miss them profoundly. I will be cheering them on from the audience at the Booth Theatre."
No drama, but it is disappointing that Martin won't be a part of this. Maybe if it's well recieved it'll extend and Martin will be able to step back in.
How awful. 4 broken ribs sounds miserable. I hope Martin can recover quickly!
Just to repeat what the articles say: NIELSEN is now moving up into the MARTIN role (Janice). WHITE will play Carol, the role that NIELSEN was initially playing.
So sad for Andrea Martin, who I was probably most looking forward to seeing in this. But oh boy, if you have to find a last minute replacement for a trio of comic actors of this caliber, you f***ing get Julie White. Brilliant casting.
I agree with Kad! This strikes me as a very lateral casting change. Martin, White, and Nielson are all equally wonderful in my eyes. Of course I’m sad to hear that Martin is injured, but from an audience standpoint I don’t think we’re getting shortchanged!

That, and Lane's selling 95% of the tickets. Andrea Martin is slightly better-known Kristine Nielsen and Julie White, but no show is selling out on Andrea alone. (Not a knock on her talents in any way, just the reality.)
If Lane had been injured, they probably would have just cancelled/postponed the production altogether, rather than replace him with a lesser talent (aka anyone) and have a refund nightmare.

also wondering if others have read or seen Titus Andronicus before going or if they’re going to have a synopsis in program which helps set the stage.
