Telecharge has removed the shows from their website. Quite often, this board knows things before they do.

Likewise, if I didn’t read it on BWW, I would’ve never known! Just called Telecharge and they confirmed both shows are cancelled today. Ended up refunding the ticket and will repurchase later.
Extra disappointed because I could’ve bought a 5pm Fleabag ticket

Bill Irwin's background is in clowning and physical comedy. I don't know what specifically he did for Gary, but I would think it has something to do with that. "Movement" can be one of those weird, ambiguous credits in theatre –– sometimes it's choreography, sometimes it's a dance/blocking hybrid, sometimes it's helping the actors find the physicality of the characters.

It's kind of like choreography, but instead of dancing, it's more focused on moving your body in a certain way to suit the stylistic needs of the show. Sometime it is a little bit more on the "dancing" side, but it's not so much dance steps as it is stylized body movements. In this case, Bill Irwin is noted for his career as a clown, so it's likely that he is helping the actors with things like slapstick and physical comedy.
I imagine there's going to be a lot of physical comedy with the moving of the dead bodies and Irwin is a master of that type of comedy. He liked helped with that.
I havn't read where 'blocking' came into this thread but isn't blocking putting the cast in place for lighting/sets without doing the full routines etc. More for the tech crew than performance.

Blocking = the actors’ movements onstage. Aka, about half of the director’s job.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the best current example of movement on stage. While not directly choreography, the way actors move through space in a heightened, almost ethereal way is what movement achieves.
I wonder if with this entire week cancelled if they'll try and extend at least a week. Sales seem strong for this. Are they still targeting the same date for opening?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

It still has a full month of previews (opening 4/11), so I wouldn't think it needs more time unless it's a mess. Back in the day, shows liked to open on Thursdays because newspaper circulation is higher on Fridays; if Rudin's using that rationale, the two other Thursdays in the season are taken, and it's not kosher to have more than one opening per night.
It's already on sale for 20 weeks (thru 8/4), which is a decently long run. Probably depends on sales, Nathan's willingness to extend, and if the Shuberts have promised the Booth to anything else.
I’m going to stick by calling it a mess. Is it understandable? Of course, but cancelling two dates is a mess. I walked past the Booth on my way to the Jacobs and there were people there who had no idea their show was cancelled.
I had tickets on the 5th, and had them refunded and was going to get tickets on the 9th, but didn't. But I’m sure someone did, and now they’re dealing with two separate cancellations.
It’s not about being the first to see it. If they needed a whole week to get the replacements up to speed they shouldn’t have set the 9th as the best date. Clearly there were just guessing/hoping.
I hope the show does wonderfully and I imagine it’s unbelievably stressful to replace a lead at the last moment, but it’s been a bit of a mess
It's live theatre. It's unfortunate, but s&%t happens and they have to roll with the punches. They want the actors to be comfortable, while also starting previews as quickly as possible. It's a balancing act. (It's also funny that people on here frequently complain that shows "feel like a first preview" or "needed more rehearsal time." In this case, they're giving them more time.)
Also, Andrea was the 2nd lead in a 3-character play...it's not like one of the Gangsters in Kiss Me Kate broke 4 ribs and any swing could have stepped into the part temporarily or permanently with little disruption. We don't know when Julie was able to start rehearsing (Kristine, too), how big/wordy the roles are, the physical demands, etc.
This producer has done some shady things in the past, but this does NOT feel like one of those things!
If they hired Bill Irwin to do movement, then this is going to be a very physical production. Not something you can just throw someone into, or onstage with a script in hand for a few performances.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
To call this production a mess because they experienced a cast member injury is not the definition of 'a mess' in my mind. A mess is when a production is racing toward preview opening and the cast and crew is not ready because of technical issues, an inability to focus the piece or capture the characters or, in the extreme, to remember lines!
This was an incident that could not have been predicted and, rather than starting previews before they are ready and risking the immediate online thrash and trash that would ensue, they are trying to protect the rest of the run AND the cast and production by holding off until they can get settled again with the new cast. This is not the first time a preview has been postponed (most for actual troubled productions) and it won't be the last. Be patient. They will get there.
Were there a lot of people in line for rush this morning? I'm tempted to try and get rush tickets, but I'm not sure if there will be any available by now.
