Posted: 3/27/11 at 1:05pmI'm hoping they will amend that age limit policy- it's a really foolish practice for a show that really needs to get some butts in seats

Thanks for that info, thismyshow. I agree with both Catalano and Bennett. Glad as I am they instituted a rush, this is a a silly policy. This show needs all the help it can get. Limiting rush for it that narrowly is absurd. Please come back to tell us what you thought of the show.

Incredibly stupid policy.
Went by the box office today. The woman told me she had "plenty" of rush tickets, but wouldn't sell me one because I was over 21.

I was lucky enough to be able to rush High today with my 20-year old son; we got to the box office at about 12:15 and it looked to us like there were only six seats sold to kids in the front row, although adults filled up the rest of the space.
thismyshow, it was nice to meet you! My son doesn't do much Broadway and was skeptical, but wound up being just as impressed as I was. Kathleen Turner was as good as I'd have expected, but Jonigkeit was amazing as the drug addict.
Very odd rush policy, I agree...I first thought they were trying to eliminate older students, or the ones who are using outdated IDs, but on the other end of the age limit, they're allowing kids 15 and 16 to SEE the show, but not to rush it...so that's even stranger. Wouldn't be surprised if they wind up amending this to make it more inclusive; although thismyshow told me that someone at the box office said that they were using age instead of school IDs in order to open it up to young people who aren't in college, which is actually a good idea. If you stop and think about it, the whole student ID thing is skewed towards a demographic idea that a lot of us take for granted...and eliminating kids that aren't in college doesn't seem right.

Now, see, that puzzles me. Because, I was at the box office this afternoon with ljay, who does meet the age requirements. However, the woman asked to see both of our ID's, and when she looked at mine, laughed, and said, rather snottily, "You're older than my daughter."
The policy states you can get two per ID, so I have no idea why we were both asked for ID. And, it seems she let you do it, April.
They really need to get this straight.

^ Did she let you buy the ticket adamgreer?
I would honestly think they should make it a general or student rush because it's better to get $26.50 than nothing for seats

^ No, she did not. This is irritating. The box office needs to get this together.

^That's crazy
and I would think if the show isn't selling they'd be glad to get $26.50 for a seat so atleast they are making something rather than empty seats. Also to help build word of mouth
#13Good day to rush HIGH
Posted: 3/27/11 at 11:03pmThey also need to initiate some heavy papering because this isn't going to be a critics darling, and their best strategy is going to be word of mouth- tickets aren't moving at all right now.

Posted: 3/27/11 at 11:08pmadamgreer, thats awful. Sorry about that. As we all know, everything depends on who you get in the box office and what kind of day they are having.
#16Good day to rush HIGH
Posted: 3/27/11 at 11:34pmI went yesterday with a friend in the age range. She got two tickets and I went even though I am over 21. I wasn't asked for an ID.

If anyone wants to let me in on a papering ticket, please do!
---> And on this note, I went to try and get a rush ticket to "Anything Goes" and they said that all rush tickets are half price tickets? So they offered me like a $50 ticket in the Mezz, or something, but on Playbill it says they have a general rush for $20-something, and that they were "sold out" of HipTix for awhile. I didn't realize HipTix even sold-out?
#18Good day to rush HIGH
Posted: 3/27/11 at 11:59pm^Hiptix only has a limited number of tickets per performance, dependent, I think, on what the full-price sales are like. Probably the same with general rush, which goes on sale when the box office opens. Student rush is the half-price option and it's available at half hour to the show. For shows that are selling less well, I have gone to the box office and asked where the different seats would be for a general, student or HIptix ticket just to see the options.

Posted: 3/28/11 at 12:06amHey adamgreer, just to clarify: Actually, I wasn't present when my son went over to the box office, showed his ID and bought us the two tickets. But I wasn't deliberately hiding, since if it's 2 per ID, it shouldn't matter what age I am. Are you saying they wouldn't let ljay buy two tickets and give you one? That would be really wild...

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying! It was really weird.
Would it not have been a problem if he had gone in to the box office alone and bought two tickets?

Posted: 3/28/11 at 12:23amMan, that's ridiculous! I think ljay should have just said fine, then I would like TWO tickets, please. And had they refused, I would have raised hell with the house manager or anyone else who was present. Two per ID means exactly that. It sounds like some box office person was trying to torture you! I only had my son go to the window alone because I was parking our car; I've done student rush many times with both my kids and never had a problem...
#22Good day to rush HIGH
Posted: 3/28/11 at 12:28amI thought about it, but at that point, we wanted to see another show, and didn't have time to wait around. The house manager (who I remember from the days of n2n as being rather prickly) doesn't arrive until half hour. Hopefully they'll straighten out the policy soon.

Posted: 3/28/11 at 1:45am@Michael Bennett would love to have your magic power of knowing tickets arent moving... its only been running 3 days this is going to be a show that once word gets out sales will pick up.

I know tickets aren't moving because I know people who have been at each performance and have reported that its been about 40 percent full - if that.
Word of mouth may grow but they need to have people actually seeing the show in order for that to happen. Having a 'bunch of unused rush' tickets according to the Box Office that most people can't buy because they are over 21 is thus a really foolish policy.
