Great Performances will present a documentary exploring the legacy of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical Company, part of the series' fifth "Broadway's Best" lineup.
Filmed over two years, the broadcast takes an inside look at Tony-winning director Marianne Elliott's creative process of bringing the reimagined gender-swapped production to Broadway during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a cast including Tony and Grammy winner Katrina Lenk and two-time Tony and two-time Grammy winner Patti LuPone.
Featuring rehearsal and performance footage, plus new interviews with Elliott, Lenk, LuPone, Sondheim, and members of the original 1970 cast, Great Performances: Keeping Companywith Sondheim (w.t.), a #PBSForTheArts program, premieres Friday, May 27, at 9 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings), pbs.org/broadwayonpbs and the PBS Video app.

COMPANY remains one of the most documented Broadway shows, perhaps matched only by Peter Pan, Annie, and Sweeney. Company has had Original Cast Album doc, filmed productions with Adrian Lester, Raul Esparza, and NPH, and now this doc. (and Documentary Now as a bonus!)
Looking forward to this, and hoping it will explore the aftermath of Sondheim's death.

Not what they were saying. They said Company "remains one of the most documented Broadway shows, perhaps matched only by Peter Pan, Annie, and Sweeney," and then proceeded to list the ways in which it was documented, including the Original Cast Album doc, etc.

This is how it was written, yo.

Did anyone watch Great Performances: Reopening - The Broadway Revival tonight? I thought it was beautiful, but it was weird and sad seeing all these shows that reopened only to close or are now struggling.
