Great performances in Not So Great shows.

Performances you really enjoyed, in shows you did not.

Most recently for me:
Rob McClure and Jen Colella in Chaplin.

Definitely Lily Rabe in Seminar

Norbert Leo Butz in Dead Accounts

I'm beginning to see a trend here, concerning the "not so great" shows. How are the completely mediocre plays of Rebeck still being produced? Right, because idiots like myself keep buying the tickets, expecting something better but never getting it...

issac.evans You really enjoyed Erin Mackey's performance in "Chaplin"? I thought she was so dull. Different strokes, for different folks I suppose!

Great performances in Not So Great shows.

Laura Benanti in WOMEN ON THE VERGE..(although I still say there is a fantastic show in there that a director will find one day)

Linda Lavin in THE LYONS

Martha Plimpton in PAL JOEY (Roundabout)

Stephanie J Block's Pirate Queen was spectacular - although I thought the show was better in Chicago. It seemed somehow gutted on Broadway.

David Turner in In My Life. Aside from the giant lemon, his performance is the only thing I remember about the show. Could be that he was the only one who had a character to play in the show. Could be the CGI skeleton kickline that haunts my nightmares.

Jan Maxwell (and Danny Burstein) in that incredible dog that was Follies

This isn't very recent, but the first performance that came to mind was Orfeh in Saturday Night Fever. She was terrific. The show wasn't.

Great performances in Not So Great shows.

Audra McDonald and Norm Louis in The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess (I am sorry but when they gut the show to the point where Porgy explains he know Bess cheated on him because he has a bum leg, there are issues)

Raul Esparza in Leap of Faith

SHERRIE RENE SCOTT as well as t Sierra Bogess, and Tittuss Bergius in The Little Mermaid did I mention SHERRIE RENE SCOTT!!!

I was a little disappointed in Peter and the Starcatcher. It didn't quite live up to my expectations.

But I think that Celia Keenan-Bolger & Adam Chanler-Berat were great.

Almost everything I've seen Sutton Foster in. I didn't like Shrek, Young Frankenstein, Little Women, or Thoroughly Modern Millie, but Sutton was a rock star. It was great to watch her shine in Anything Goes and the Drowsy Chaperone, both shows I enjoyed.
