I want to sit in the front row because I don't want my view obstructed. So first it was Row C, then I switched to Row B, and now Row A is available for $399 with a stage that appears to be stiff-neck-inducing high. I feel like taking my bat and ball and going home."
So, in other words you'd like for them to build the theatre and stage this particular show based on your specifications in order to adhere to your maximum personal comfort AND your preferred price point? Sure --- no problem!

I was a bit surprised that Jake's voice has a nice rich vocal tone.
Wasn't it always gonna be a staged version of the concert? Just this time without book.
My agent friend said it's gonna be pretty much the same production from City Center but beefed up without book. Nothing will match the visuals from the last revival in 2008 that I saw or the original which I did not but still looking forward to it, and that we can also expect Jake back at the Hudson this September in "Burn This".
Here's how it's being billed:
Broadway's Hudson Theatre re-opens in spectacular fashion, with a staged concert version of Stephen Sondheim's glorious Sunday in the Park with George. Starring Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Constellations, Nightcrawler) and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can't Take it With You), this concert production drew rapturous acclaim when it debuted at the New York City Center in 2016, and was extended by an additional four performances due to huge demand.

I didn't pay all that money to see a concert without the book. If this turns out to be true I'll be pretty upset.

I interpreted "without the book" as just meaning that the performers would not be relying on a physical book on stage for lyrics and dialogue, as they did at NY City Center. I hope that is the correct interpretation.
Really hoping there's a set......
But I will do with JAKE GYLLENHAAL's fantastic voice if need be...I love SUNDAY...But i'm worried... Will the painting even be in the background??

That seems like a default setting.

What are the odds of this extending? I would have just missed it as I'm planning to be in the US by the end of May.
If it extends, it wouldn't be to the end of May. Maybe two weeks, but even that is unlikely.

No, but I would like them to make it clear what seats are available and set the price (instead of switching around every week or so) so I can make an informed judgment. I don't think that's too much to ask.P.S. You are a rude jerk, but I'm sure you know that. That's why you live in your mother's basement in Belarus.
You got seats that are now $399 for $159. I think that's something to be happy about. Row A doesn't even look like a great view. Just be happy that you paid less than half for the seats cost now.

Broadway ticket prices change without any notice depending on demand. I'm not surprised that those seats that cost $159 are now $399 especially after the video of the rehearsal.
I was able to get second row center orch (center area) for $159 and am sooo excited now. Yes, it's a bit too in front but for Jake and Annaleigh I'm ok with that! :)
Simple and I don't care! I paid for great performances and that's what I'm going to get. This show doesn't need to be extravagant, it can be, but isn't necessary. Still extremely excited.
I don't understand the complaints about a lack of a HUGE design. This isn't PRISCILLA. This is SUNDAY. The score and the performances are what you go for.
I like the set. There are probably going to be some roll on/dropped down set pieces and projections and stuff, but I really like how it looks like they are performing on an actual blank canvas.
Also, after seeing the concert production back in October, I also thought Jake sounded eerily similar to Mandy Patinkin, in some parts.

Considering the Encores! Benefit concert did, I'd say that's a safe bet.
Y'all need to calm down: the company was great with limited rehearsal a few months ago. I paid 250 per ticket for that performance (though had limited reservations then...) and felt the price was well worth the performance! I can't imagine what the performances will be like now.
Endless possibilities!

For those who are crying/worrying about no set, CHICAGO has been running for years and years without a set!

Not a good comparison. Chicago was built around the choreography, music and book. SITPWG was written around specific visuals, which is understandable for a concert version. I think they should stick to the fact that it's a staged concert; the last revival's visuals were stunning.
I don't need the revival to be opulent, necessarily, but I will be a little miffed if it's basically a concert staging. I'm still excited- it's a gorgeous show and the cast should be excellent- but the Encores version was advertised as a concert (and, correct me if I'm wrong, a fundraiser as well) so every ticket buyer knew what they were getting. If this is basically a concert as well, it certainly wasn't sold that way.
I would also agree that Sunday is absolutely a show about visuals- it's literally based on a painting. Sure, the Act I finale is a beautiful piece of music, but the impact doesn't really register unless the visual is backing it up. That's what takes it from pretty to utterly ravishing.
This production has TWO projection designers, it could make heavy use of projections like the last revival.
This forum is sometimes way too forgiving / naive ... They put up a curtain.... Big whoop... I'm not charging $299 a head for guests in my apartment to see that I've done the same thing in my living room...

Are you going for the set or the performances & show itself? Nobody is forcing you to go. Sell your ticket if you're more preoccupied with what the stage looks like. I bought my ticket to hear Jake and Annaleigh bring their touch on one of my favorite shows, not to focus on the stage.
You're the naive one if you bought your ticket for the set. Everyone who is seeing this is going for Gyllenhaal, Ashford or because they love the material. Please sell your ticket and stop complaining, Skimble.
I too would love if this show got some kind of short extension. I hope to be in the city to see Sweeney, and would love to catch this on the same trip, alas, Sweeney is sold out through April.
