I was already really excited but after that video I cannot wait to see it. Only about one more week for me!

If that was recorded in an empty stage Feb 1 and it starts performances is the next week (?).. this ain't gonna be a fully staged show with a proper set. They'd need 2 weeks at least to load in and dry tech.
What really stood our to me was the intimacy of the Hudson...what a remarkable theater! And obviously I I can't say this for certain, but the sight-lines from the mezz and balcony look fantastic! Happy that this wonderful Encores! presentation is getting a second life, but even happier that Broadway has a new jewel box of a theater!
I was sure I was going to hate this-and I have to say after watching this video, I am really excited for his portrayal- nicely done!
I highly doubt it's going to be performed on an empty stage.

This would be such a stunning movie. Directed by Cary Fujinaga. Wow. I can't wait for this live but I once again could totally see this working on film, with Jake, with the right creative direction.
If we don't get a cast album I'll just watch that video over and over again and cry.

He does sound glorious on that video. Cannot wait to see it.
Glad I kept my ticket.... What a video... Wish they could get nominated for TONYs, but the experience should be magical... My first time seeing SUNDAY :)!!!!!!

Jake sounds absolutely fantastic! I loved the concert, and I know I'll love this production just as much.
Thank you for posting that video. I loved the City Center concert production, and this makes me want to try to land a ticket for the full production. I think Jake sounds great!

Why don't we put this argument to rest, shall we? Everyone was spoon-feeding bullsh*t like this about Sunset and we've come to realized that was WAY more than a concert production. Why don't we just wait and see on Saturday? No one REALLY will know until then, anyway.
SO excited. He sounded delicious.
To the person that claimed they'd need two weeks....well that was a week ago, and opening is still a week away. THERE'S your two weeks. Yes, it seems tight, but they are the professionals.
Just FYI tickets in "the official" front row (A) of the orchestra have been released. For a whopping $300-$399)...

I was a bit surprised that Jake's voice has a nice rich vocal tone.
Wasn't it always gonna be a staged version of the concert? Just this time without book.
My agent friend said it's gonna be pretty much the same production from City Center but beefed up without book. Nothing will match the visuals from the last revival in 2008 that I saw or the original which I did not but still looking forward to it, and that we can also expect Jake back at the Hudson this September in "Burn This".
Here's how it's being billed:
Broadway's Hudson Theatre re-opens in spectacular fashion, with a staged concert version of Stephen Sondheim's glorious Sunday in the Park with George. Starring Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Constellations, Nightcrawler) and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can't Take it With You), this concert production drew rapturous acclaim when it debuted at the New York City Center in 2016, and was extended by an additional four performances due to huge demand.

From what I could glean from the video, those don't look like particularly good seats, as the stage appears to be relatively high.

Oh, I concur! 1,000%! I would NEVER pay that much for a crap view of the action onstage. I have a seat in Row B for a performance on Sondheim's birthday.

I thought the same thing. I feel he has listened to the Patinkin recording a lot in his prep for the role it seems. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. This video was stunning, and fascinating to get a sneak peek look at the theater itself too. Makes me even more excited than I already was, although I'm bummed I won't be in the front row like I thought now that they have pulled a "Dolly" and released the front row seats for huge amounts of money!
I went to the box office to get tickets for this today, the box office looks beautiful. Really looking forward to seeing the show but also checking out the theatre.
If I'm going to the last show of the run, does that increase my odds of a Sondheim spotting, or does he typically see his stuff once and that's it?
He'll probably be there. Sometimes they bring him on stage for closing speeches. They did at the Night Music revival closing.

Guess I'll have to bring my book with me.
When Assassins was in previews at Studio 54 I saw him in the orchestra level at two separate performances. He definitely likes getting involved or at least being there for his shows.
From what I hear, he'll also be at the first preview of Sweeney Todd on Tuesday. Would love to meet Sondheim.
So now they are charging $399 for Row A as well as Row C, which less than a month ago was selling for slightly over $100, right? What the heck? I can't win with this show. I want to sit in the front row because I don't want my view obstructed. So first it was Row C, then I switched to Row B, and now Row A is available for $399 with a stage that appears to be stiff-neck-inducing high. I feel like taking my bat and ball and going home.
