Dottie, I dont think I could have over sold it...it's that wonderful.
I cannot believe this wont be recorded...it's too iconic.
(One thing about Patti...she does over annunciate, as she always has done, and I know many dislike her that given the reviews of Sweeney on here, so be warned about that.)

Posted: 7/10/07 at 11:12amOh God, I hope it's just as good in ten days when I see it.
re: Gypsy#102
Posted: 7/10/07 at 11:14amI agree that there needs to be a recording. Preferably a live one since I can't see "Rose's Turn" being the best song to be done in a studio. Are we sure there's no chance of one?
re: Gypsy#103
Posted: 7/10/07 at 11:15amI'd say there's a good chance of one...though it will likely be the London cast, not the City Center one.

I'm going tomorrow night. You people made me so excited I can't imagine how I'll get though the next two days.
Having seen the role played by Angela, Roz, Tyne, Linda Lavin, Bette Midler, Betty Buckley, Bernadette and Patti-twice-at-Ravinia--not to mention Merman and Garland in my imagination--I can honestly say that the performance I saw Patti give at Ravinia was definitive, so I'm sure this one will be even more so.
Who's going Wednesday?

Posted: 7/10/07 at 11:23amLet's be honest: After witnessing "Everything's Coming Up Roses", was anyone in the mood for chit chatting during intermission? I found a quiet corner in a stairwell and just absorbed the performance I had just witnessed.

Yes, dp, I ignored the hubby who stupidly kept asking me what I thought...
Duh!

Posted: 7/10/07 at 11:25amI was semi-coherent during intermission, but after the show, I walked quietly to the subway... I think a lot of people were visibly shaken.

I'm taking my son and daughter-in-law to the final performance and have already warned them not to talk to me during intermission or after the show--unless I initiate the conversation.
Yes, I was completely shaken by the last few minutes of the performance. I had difficulty standing for the well-deserved ovation.

I was somewhat of a basket case after intermission, and even more so after Rose's Turn. I'm still in awe.
I'm going again tomorrow!

I was afraid I was going to fall past the lights and into the orchestra during the curtain.
I have a question for anyone who saw it in rehearsal and last night. It has to do with "You'll Never Get Away From Me", and if something was staged or ...not, if ya know what I mean, wink wink.
I know Rath did, but she's not online anymore.
PM me, and thanks!

doodle, I was only there last night, but I THOUGHT it was staged. If it wasn't, it works REALLY well.
Anyway, I got a cheap seat for tonight, since I sprang for orchestra last night. I'm just going to keep going till I get sick of it.

YES, staged very well.
Doodle, did you notice June's bit of business during "Mr. Goldstone"? HILARIOUS.

I'm in love with so many little things about this production...
June's bits during "Mr. Goldstone" (whoever mentioned that above, I couldn't stop STARING at her, she's hysterical)... the way Patti looks at Boyd when he's saying he can't manage the act... when Patti and Laura are in the dressing room and Patti says "I had a dream last night" and Laura's wordless reaction got APPLAUSE... the ENTIRETY of "You'll Never Get Away From Me" (I'm grinning just thinking about it)... pretty much anything Alison Fraser does... the ELECTRA.. holy cow...
