Tomorrow, 6/13, Donna Murphy begins performances in the Tony-winning revival of Hello, Dolly! Anyone plan on attending tomorrow's performance or another one of hers in the coming months?
This whole revival is stupid, ha. I mean, Midler doesn't perform on the Tonys, and then doesn't perform on the first performance after her win? Just stupid.

I could be wrong but wasn't it reported that the Producer of this show wanted to do a number directly from the stage of the Shubert and the Producers at Radio City said no? I don't think Ms. Midler had anything to do with it. What I don't get is that I recall other telecasts where they did cut away and go to a theatre to perform a number so why couldn't this show do that? Didn't they do that once where they cut a way to a cruise ship where a non-Equity company was performing a show?
As far as Ms. Murphy performing tomorrow, I would think that was just a scheduling thing not a purposeful mean intent not to have Ms. Midler perform right after she would or would not win the Tony.

You are correct EthelMae. But people either don't know how to read or find it more fun to fester on fiction.

I actually feel a little sorry for Murphy. I know she is a great actress and will do a wonderful job, but to go on the day after the lead actress wins a Tony awards and so many other acolades. She must feel a fair amount of pressure. I know she will hit it out of the park but maybe they should have put her on a couple of weeks after the Tonys. At the moment, Dolly is pretty much all about Bette and it would have been nice to have had some interviews with Murphy over the next couple of weeks to generate some excitement as her name is not that we'll know by those outside of the broadway community. I am sure she will be amazing though.
The sad thing to me is she is not selling well at all. Lots of empty seats for upcoming performances. I hope she is wonderful, critics acknowledge her and word of mouth spreads really quickly.

True only selling about 30-40% tops in general but only around 105 seats are showing available for tomorrow night so not bad for her first performance...she deserves a sold-out on her 1st night!

considering the amount of seats there's available, it should be(@ 50% off, too).
