Anthony Chatmon II (u/s Hermes and Orpheus) posted "only 4 more" and a picture of the Kerr marquee on his Instagram story tonight. I knew he was leaving the show as he was scheduled to leave in April 2020 but I didn't realize it was so soon.

Wow! I'm seeing John as Orpheus, apparently! Last time he tried to go on the entire world shut down so I hope this time goes better, ha. I feel like Reeve is very, uh, divisive? in the Broadway/Hadestown community - people either absolutely LOVE his Orpheus or they feel like he's totally weak. Personally I'm a fan, but I did prefer Daunno and I'm not a huge "fangirl" of him so to speak. I'm VERY excited to see John. I got a pretty damn decent mezzanine seat for just $79, but I'm unsure if any of those tickets are still available. Ofc I'm also lucky to live in NJ and can pretty much just do day trips whenever I please, but ugh, I'm just rambling and bragging now, lol.

Anyway, I'll definitely report back about John's Orpheus. I also know from the site that Amber is out until November - I'm a bit sad that she won't be there for Patrick's return performance, but I'm excited to see Lana Gordon (presumably? She IS the alt, and Afra Hines starts her leave of absence soon, Kim Steele is no longer listed as an understudy, and I have no idea if Jewelle or anyone else for that matter ended up learning the track in full...). Eva and André have also been out lately so I wouldn't be surprised if the show I see on Tuesday is majority understudies (/alternates/swings/etc). As much as I adore the original cast I'd love to see some other people in the track as well, so I'm REALLY excited for Tuesday. Especially given it's John's only performance! Reeve has such an amazing attendance record, I truly feel like I'll be one of just a few hundred people to see an Orpheus understudy. I was SHOCKED when I saw the post about how he'd be Orpheus for a performance!

So Sunday 10/24 will be his last show then? Friday evening, Saturday matinee and Saturday evening, and Sunday matinee are his last shows.

AndreyIsntHere: I live outside of Philly and can do day trips to NYC as well! But I’m only able to do matinees since the last train out of NYC that goes to my stop is around 5pm and if I miss it, the next one is next morning haha I do have a few bus options but they all depart NYC by 6pm.

I’ve seen Reeve every time I’ve seen the show so I can’t say I like another’s Orpheus over his. I wish I could have seen Damon Daunno though. I will say that every time I see Reeve there’s a handful of times where I feel like he about to forget his lines or next stage direction. Takes too long to deliver the lines and the rest of the cast is just waiting and waiting.

I believe Kim Steele was only an understudy for Persephone because she filled in for Afra’s maternity leave. She just took over whatever Afra was doing. Right at the shut down, Jewelle was about do to her Persephone put in the next day. Kimberly Marable was rumored to over the role when Amber left, and Jewelle was the primary understudy.

Surprised by this! Is Anthony taking a LOA? His Instagram was on private for a bit but it isn't anymore.

Khaila is doing Eurydice for today's matinee!

Kills me that I can't see her! I won't be home in time for a family thing if I go the 3pm on Sunday. If she posts that she is doing the Wednesday matinee or Saturday matinee can you please let me know? Maybe we'll get lucky and she'll do another set of days the week after and before Amber returns!

Noooo! Afra just took her LOA so I feel like she might alternate with Lana? I definitely feel like Jewelle will go on for a few more dates (especially since Amber isn't coming back until the 13th). And no worries, I'll definitely be posting dates on here! Jewelle is going to be so wonderful (I won't be seeing them until January though, Kay will finally be back!) and those who get to see Jewelle on these dates are so lucky!

Jewelle is apparently going on 2 pm Wednesday! I'm going to try and get there.

Ahhhh let me know how it goes! So excited to hear about Jewelle as Persephone!

Forgot to add: Jewelle will also be doing the matinee for October 27!

Apparently Amtrak and a few of the buses I used changed their weekday departure schedules making it more difficult to get home at a reasonable hour. So I’m going to hold off on Wednesday and try for a Saturday if she’s on. Thankfully the Saturday train and bus schedules remain the same.

Ahh thats happened to me in a way! One of my trains doesn't run on weekends (which sucks) and it can really deter my travel schedule. I love Saturday matinees. My Hadestown performance is an evening show though!  Lana posted about working Week 2 as Persephone on Instagram, so I'm sure she'll be dividing the time with Jewelle since Afra left.

My friend is flying in for a quick weekend trip 11/12-11/14 and really wanted to see Hadestown. Was able to snag a couple box seats today for the 11/12 performance, and I'm excited to see who will be playing Persephone the night before Amber's return!

I'm also excited to see Patrick Page as Hades. My first time seeing the show was the reopening performance on 9/2, so I've only seen Tom Hewitt play the role.

My weekend train is perfect! Arrives at NYP by 12:45 (but always delayed so more like 1:15) and departs at 5:17. So I get home by 7ish. The weekday train gets in at 11:15 so perfect for lunch before a matinee but departs at 5:05, which I can’t get to after Hadestown, or 6:30 with a 2 hr transfer getting me home after 11pm. My bus departs at 6pm but the company eliminated my stop. Another bus only runs on weekends.

I wish that was me! One of my weekend trains never runs and another one (that ultimately connects me to NY) can occasionally be slow/delayed. I feel like if I get on the train going to NY at 5pm - it might take 25 - 35 mins to get there, then the train back will be another 30 minutes, so I'd finally arrive back at 6pm/6:10pm.

I'm seeing Hadestown as an evening and I'm most likely going to return around 10ish/11, mainly due to  transportation. I returned home from NYC recently, and was so tired, I actually realized I got on the wrong train because mine had stopped running apparently.  no (It was a Saturday and I'm seeing Hades on a Friday, so hopefully the schedule will be alright)

I hope everything works out and you’re not getting back super late!!! I feel like Friday should be ok but trains are so unpredictable. I’ve done the train so many times that I still would panic if my train wasn’t running! I’ve lost my phone at Circle in the Square and got it back. But I think the train not running would give me more anxiety than my lost phone haha.

Thank you so much! I know, same for me! I was close to my destination, so it wasn't bad. It was just pretty late, which was a little stressful. How awesome you got your phone back! Where did you end up finding it at Circle In The Square? I almost thought I lost my debit card while in NY but I just placed it in the side pocket of my purse. lol

So…. I left my phone in the women’s restroom at circle in the square and didn’t realize until preshow was almost over during once on this island. Ran around the theatre like a crazy person searching for it! Ended up not finding it, had to buy a Verizon prepay phone to get my Amtrak ticket home. Someone found it and handed it in to the box office who shipped it back to me!

Sounds like something I would do! That's so nice that the box office actually mailed it back to you. DId you get to see Lea Salonga? The Circle could've, at least, thrown in a signed playbill lol

Yes to seeing Lea Salonga! I was able to see her right before closing. Of the multiple Erzulies I saw, I always thought Cassondra James was the best one.

Me, too.   I really don't care for Carney much.   I cannot wait to see Nick Barasch on the tour, hopefully his performance will be what stays in my head!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

My friends loooooove him but I’m like eh . Nothing memorable. But I will say Reeve is so sweet to all the fans at the stage door so I give him a lot of credit. I too and looking forward to Nick Barasch! I’m planning to see the tour in Philly!

So jealous, I wish I could've seen Lea live (also how I feel when people say they saw Sierra Boggess play Christine, hoping she's coming back for the 35th)! I know Michelle Williams was apart of the show as well. I'm not too familiar with Cassondra's voice but wow SO stunning!

I heard the same about Eva! People often say she was so kind at the stage door. I think Kimberly Marable is touring with Hadestown and she's so wonderful!
