Ahhh enjoy!!! I’m so excited yet so nervous for Jewelle! I’m sure she’s going to be wonderful! Report back! What part of the theatre are you sitting in (orch, mezz)?

Gonna delve away from the off-topic discussions for a second and talk about John Krause's Orpheus! He was so amazing. He was crying during the curtain call / We Raise Our Cups. He got SO MUCH applause, it made me so happy. He's such an amazing actor and singer, I feel very lucky to have been able to see him!

Excited to hear how she does!
Also curious to hear if Tara Jackson's Fate track has the same vocal range as Jewelle. Jewelle's contralto solos are amazing.

My friend and I went last night because we originally had tickets for his debut on March 12, 2020 *sigh* and so we really wanted to catch him since it basically never happens. We keep describing the feelings we had as "blessed and depressed' because he was SO GOOD and barely anyone has gotten to see his sincere, earnest and wonderful performance as Orpheus.

I was supposed to go that Saturday but covid shut it down! I’m so glad he was amazing last night. I wish I could have been there!! How was his Orpheus? Did he play him anything like how Reeve plays him?

My partner and I went to the matinee today and got to see Jewelle's debut as Persephone. Sad to miss Amber (who I love), but Jewelle was fantastic. She brings the same contra alto voice as her Fate track to Persephone, and it's beautiful. Whereas Amber plays Persephone as "drunk and very bitter", Jewelle's Persephone has a lot of warmth (along with sadness).
Hadestown continues to be one of my favorite things on Broadway, and I'm so glad we got to see it again.

Sorry, I'm just now getting into my hotel room.
Jewelle was really good as Persephone. It's still jarring for me to hear anyone other than Amber sing this role (I guess I have been lucky? I have only seen one other person, Afra, and that was once). She sounds pretty good and definitely seemed much more comfortable for Act 2. Our Lady of The Underground was definitely the highlight of this afternoons performance for me. I hope that she gets to on more frequently in the future as I can see her really carving out an excellent performance in this role. To be honest though, I expected Jewelle to be good, and she was. She also had lots of support in the house.
The surprise, for me, was Tara Jackson. I have wondered just what the Fates' numbers would sound like without Jewelle (we all know how special her voice is). Tara did great!!! Her lows are not as booming as Jewelle but she more than held her own - honestly at times I couldn't believe that Jewelle wasn't off stage singing for her. It was that spot on. Again, I hope she gets more opportunities to go on in this role as time goes on.

Posted: 10/27/21 at 5:48pmDid we ever find out what the deal is with Trent? Khalia Wilcoxon went on as a Worker this afternoon but there was no slip, she wasn’t on the board, and there was no announcement.

Posted: 10/27/21 at 6:11pmNow that Afra is officially on Leave of Absence, I wonder if Khaila took over her worker track? (But you're right, the board only had Jewelle ad Persephone, Tara Jackson as a Fate, and Malcolm Armwood on as one of the Workers Chorus)

Last night's Playbill had Tim, John, Trent, Kim and Khaila printed as the five workers (though Trent wasn't on, and obviously last night John was on as Orpheus - Malcolm and Yaya took those two tracks and were listed on the understudy board).

If the rumor I heard is true, then an announcement on Trent should be coming soon! I would have never guessed this, that;s for sure!

You’re right. I didn’t even look at the playbill just the website.

Intermission update - Jewelle is MURDERING this evening performance. Whatever nerves might have been there this afternoon have melted away. Truly thrilling.
Sorry that I haven’t been keeping up but since Afra and Amber are both out are Jewelle and Lana going to be splitting the role for the next couple weeks?

Yea! That’s how it’s looking! Still unsure about the schedule/split though so it seems random on who goes on when. Loving the positive feedback on Jewelle!

She did in the past! She did the Hadestown Sunday matinee then went over to Green Room 42 after.

Forgot to respond! Very different but I loved it. Vocally I like both, but Reeve has a slight edge in his falsetto, as he’s a but clearer/stronger in the upper register. he’s had way more then to get used to it, but John has a lovely voice. He’s very sincere and wide eyed and earnest, and I think he plays him less quirky and awkwardly than Reeve does. Still a space cadet but very sweet. John’s also more, built(?) I guess than Reeve, so during the fight scene, John dwarfs a lot of the workers and it made me laugh.
I know Reeve barely misses the show and of course I don’t want anyone to miss out when they’ve been excited to see him, but I also want more people to get to see John because I found his Orpheus so great and different, which has been the fun of seeing something more than once (if I like it a lot). Us repeat attenders are having a wild time with all these new Persephones we are being treated to!

Ok so...after seeing John on the 26th I impulsively went back to see Jewelle. I saw the evening show, and holy ****, she was INCREDIBLE. I am very attracted to women with deep voices, and I honestly think I like her as much as I like Amber. Her dynamic with Tom was quite a bit different than any Hades and Persephone pairing I've seen before but I really enjoyed it. Tara Jackson was on as Jewelle's Fate and she was amazing too. What a night!

Edit: I looked through Trent's tagged on Instagram, and one the most recent pictures has him in the Orpheus costume crossing the stage in the Doubt Comes In scene.

Just gonna say it! I’m going to be super annoyed if I don’t get to see Reeve! What’s this rumor about Trent? Is Reeve leaving soon? I just hope he stays through Nov 4! I know Anthony Chatmon was understudy for Orpheus as well as John so I’m just hoping that he’s kind of assuming that role and that Reeve will continue to have good attendance for another week!!! I would consider switching my tickets if I heard he wouldn’t be there my date like I did when I saw Eva would be out. The last minute “advance” announcements stress me out ha ha.

I wonder if this has anything to do with House of Gucci's upcoming release? Reeve plays Tom Ford. There might be quite a bit of publicity and screening attendances for him due to that. Pure speculation on my end, though.
