I Know Where I Have Been live in Toronto was stunning all three times I saw it...and once was the understudy, which I didn't even realize until the next night when I saw it again because she was that good.

I think Latifah sounds fine.
I think everyone looks GREAT.
I don't think it'll be anything Oscar-worthy - however, I hope it's tons of fun and just as big of a popcorn-movie blockbuster audience pleaser as anything this summer.

I loved "Hairspray" when I first saw the John Water's film on the big screen many years ago. I've also seen the touring production three different times. The photos and Queen's rendition of YCSTB on the film's website make me excited for the film's release. As for Queen Latifah herself, I think she's great! I loved her in "Chicago" and look forward to seeing her as Motormouth. I think her Oscar nom was well-deserved.

Mateo!!!! Congratulations! I had a feeling something like this was going on while you were "gone". It couldn't happen to a better guy.
One question....What happened to your Lather, Rinse, Repeat section? I enjoyed going back and looking through some of the early blog entries.

I love the teaser! Of course YCSTB sounds different. We Hairspray fans are so used to hearing the OBC recording that its going to sound like its missing something when someone else is singing it. I think it sounds fine and I COMPLETELY trust Mr. Shaiman when he says that we will love the final version!

There is an announcement trailer that will be shown in theatres, similar to the first Dreamgirls teaser trailer. It may be online soon.

Mateo, that's really awesome for you. My concern is that the music sounds like it was mixed by the producer of the RENT soundtrack and Green Day's American Idiot. Is this true?

Whether it is or not, I feel like there is too much guitar.
