So, I have a fifteen-year-old who is absolutely obsessed with Hamilton. We have long wanted to visit NYC (though my dad is from the area and I have family living there now I've never been, and neither has she) and I was formulating a plan to visit NYC for a few days just to be there, and then also enter the Ham4Ham lottery (-ies? more on that later) and then also hire a line-sitter as a more-likely way to get tickets. The plan was never WE WILL DEFINITELY GET TICKETS, but I've talked to people who had great luck with it and SOLE advertises a 95% success rate. That seems pretty good.
So this news is a real blow. Any advice?
Second question: I don't totally understand the lottery system. I know that there is an online lottery, and I know that there are Ham4Ham performances and a winner is chosen, but I think that at the performances there is also a way to enter the lottery in person? Are there TWO separate lotteries, online and and in-person?
Thanks!

First, YOU ARE AWESOME FOR TAKING YOUR KID TO HAMILTON. The lotto is open every day except for Sunday. Most days, it is online but on Wednesdays, they are outside the theater. One of the best days to go to the theater is for a Tuesday show. Also I am not sure how well you can do with the SOLD guys, as Hamilton has updated their policy, outlawing line swapping

For most shows there is only the digital lottery. On most Wednesdays there is an in-person lottery with a live ham4ham show. I'm not sure if the lottery is just for mat, eve or both.
Hamilton Lottery Link, incase you've never seen it. Get familiar with it. And you must enter all fields daily. One entry per email. And the lottery for some reason does not accept my msn.com email so I had to open a gmail, com for my entry to be accepted and have been entering daily--even when I have tickets yo another show, ever since discovering it (about 4 months now)
Thanks for the quick and informative responses, MyFavoriteBrunette, toofunktastic2, and nrubanbroadway! (I'm only awesome if I actually manage to get tickets, sigh. Even one is OK -- I'd love to go but she's the one who lives and breathes Hamilton.)
She gets out of school May 24th and I'm thinking that going between then and first week of June or so might increase chances, as it's before tourist season really kicks off. Thoughts?
I also thought that before June 12th would be better as it's bound to win a load of Tonys, but hype is so high already will that even make a difference?
Tuesday is a good tip, thanks. I was thinking to be there Tuesday-Friday; so with info here, that would be the online lottery Tuesday, live lottery/ Ham4Ham on Wednesday (and if we get to see even that, it'd be something), then live lottery Thursday (and leave Friday morning).
I guess we could also just do the line-sitting ourselves! I'm a patient person. :)

Only live lottery is Wednesday matinee (online lottery for Wed eve and Thu eve.)
Good luck!!!
@nrubano -- there is no Hamilton performance the day after the Tony's on Monday June 13th. Just an FYI.
So Tuesday and Wednesday look like the most-promising days.
I mean, the actual chance of the lottery is vanishingly small, but in terms of what we have to work with.
I did have the online lottery link, thanks. We live ~8 hours away so it doesn't work to enter until we're able to actually get there on a moment's notice.
This is helpful! I'll keep an eye on how things shake out with SOLD and the professional line sitters in general. If I did it myself, how long would I expect to wait to get a good place in line? Looks like overnight, eh?

Our board member Steins did it without a sitter. He was second in line for this Tuesday and arrived at 3pm Monday. 27-28 hours. So yes, you or your sitter have to be there overnight at this point in time.
I tried the line in March and didn't get in. I arrived at 3am and waited 17 hours. Have made up for it since...seen the show thrice! There is no terrible mezz seat at the RRT so even if you go the TM:StubHub route the day of performance, it's worth trying.
Not line related, but can I ask really quick what time ham4ham typically starts? I'm assuming you probably have to get there a bit early too if you want a good view. Not the previous day, though.

Or get the app. It reminds you to enter, pre-fills all the fields, so you only have to click and do the captcha daily.

The weeks of Memorial Day weekend are not peak summer, but the city isn't exactly empty either.

I think around 12:20pm? When I went last week, they started handing out the slips of paper for the lottery around 11:55am.

Tell me more about this -- just keep an eye on StubHub tickets day of and pounce when the prices go down?

Oh yes! The app! Didn't think of it because my iOS is ancient and doesn't support it. When I am done paying back all these tickets, I guess a phone upgrade is in order!

Well, the tickets dropped substantially the day before the Tony noms came in. I was off Mon/Tue and was going to do the cancellation line but it was sooooo gloomy and rainy here that week that instead I kept my Dr's appt. LOL!
In the office I watched tickets that were $1000 & 900 drop about every hour. By the time I got home, seats I wanted got snatched while I was contemplating them (orch row A center) but at 1:30pm got orch row B seat 2 (aisle) for $550 plus fees the other 3 next to my seat dropped to $505 and were gone soon after.
Since the Tony nominations, the tickets don't drop that drastically but do drop and it's a matter of making a split second decision to pull the trigger ot not. No aiming pistol at the sky here! Commit or don't. Because 5 orchestra seats for $700 EACH may be a good deal now and when one sells, the price can jump up to $900 because people are biting.
Check prices on Tue and Wed because they seem more reasonable than a Thu (check today for instance)
Line sitter/ reseller, souvenir beverage cup, 4 tee shirts, lapel pin, pop-up card, baby onesie! I've already spent a fortune on Hamilton. My Hamildebt!
Try all channels to get in. The show is really great! My sister knows nothing Hamilton and I took her Tue and she could not stop thinking about the show the next day. Thanked me so much for taking her.
I see! I'm doing that now -- checking StubHub to see how far prices drop. The cheapest ones now are $675 and have been that way since I opened it about an hour ago.
I'm eternally bummed that I didn't see the news about the new block of tickets until 11 AM which was too late -- all gone. I'm trying to spin it as, better to focus on getting there before July and seeing original cast (except Groff). (Since new block was for November -January.)
Current line update: six lotto tickets have been sold, which means there are still cancellations available. I'm third in line for them now - premium ticket sales have stopped at....seven, I believe.

For all of thears of lack of tickets during the Tony voting time--I feel like this week is the most I've heard the mention of Premium Tickets coming out.

Gah, that just annoys me so much. I wish the lottery had stayed in-person where the lottery tickets actually went to people who won the lottery.
Hello everyone! This is my first post. I've been reading through the thread and there's so much information. I have a couple of questions:
My friend and I are thinking about trying the cancellation line next Tuesday for one of the Wednesday shows. Lots of people on here are saying Wednesday is a bad day to try the line -- why is that? Is it because more people line up because there are two shows? Or because the live lotto means no cancelled lotto tickets? We are thinking of getting there at 5 pm Tuesday, is that too late? We are willing to wait until the Wednesday evening show if we don't get into the matinee. And final question: If Wednesday is a bad day to go, would Tuesday or Thursday be better?
Thanks so much for reading and/or responding! Good luck on the line everyone!
I used this site to get an idea of the views at the RRT when contemplating my first rear mezz resell purchase in March. And I used it when I wondered should I buy that row B seat 2 seat and glad I did. Someone shared a pic from that row on the site and it definitely influenced my purchase. The photo here is rear mezz row A from their site.

Thanks for the update. Hope you got your tickets!
StubHub is a flurry of action all of a sudden. There were 14 tickets available, now down to two. They're $595 for mezzanine rear sides. Orchestra center was $600 (for a second, disappeared fast).

Live lotto means there will be no unclaimed lottery seats nor any standing room tix sold to the cancellation line. I talked to SOLD last week and they told me for one Wed matinee back in April, only 4 tickets were sold to the cancellation line (so that means only the first 2 people got in).
I say just go when it's best for you to go and see what the line is like. With all these new rules, we don't even know how they'll be enforced. Hopefully some members will be on the line tomorrow or on Saturday to give us further updates on how the box office is enforcing these new rules.
