Finally saw it this afternoon. Pretty filled house (yes many comps in attendance). I was pleasantly surprised at how much I along with most of the folks in attendance enjoyed it. Loved the music, the characters. It was plain old entertainment.
Why can't they find an audience. With high prices and hard to get tickets wouldn't this be a perfect show to go to for less $$$
One can hope.

It's nice to hear this, because I have really gotten a lot of grief for saying I liked--not loved--Hardbody on this board! I, too, wish it was doing better

Posted: 4/3/13 at 7:16pmWhile a "cheaper" alternative to Broadway's current terrorist price structure, I would hardly call TDF "cheap" any more, at least for their Broadway selections.

I definitely did not love it, but I found myself really enjoying myself for a good majority of this show. My friend that I attended with (along with quite a few others I passed between my seat and the bathroom and back again), however, very strongly disliked it. And bad word of mouth generally tends to spread faster than good.
Who knows why it's not selling. It's certainly an extremely tough sell. All I know is "I Feel The Lord" was one of the most exciting musical numbers I've seen on Broadway. Tony performance, please.

Posted: 4/3/13 at 7:53pmThis is could be like Working, which was a huge Broadway flop before it took off in the regionals and by this point has played every high school and community theatre in America. I'm sure the authors of Hardbody will live happily ever after on their royalty checks even after the rest of us have forgotten it ever existed.

I saw this show a few weeks ago...I had a comp ticket. I think the cast, ushers, bartenders, anyone that works for this show in some way have access to comps. That how I got my comp...through a friend that works at the show.
I enjoyed the show a lot more than I thought I would. I'd definitely recommend it to frequent theater goers or people that live in the city. However I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for tourist that are here and only seeing 1 or 2 shows. Tourists want to see things like Wicked, Book of Mormon, Matilda...bigger spectacles, and since tourists make up the majority of the bway audience I think unfortunately this show is going to continue to have problems selling. The Tonys might help them if they can hold on that long though.

I was walking passed 47th the other day and overheard a few tourists talking about it, and the female tourist kept saying "It's about a friggin truck! A truck!"
I feel like that explains the average tourists view on the show right there. I personally haven't seen it, but I wouldn't turn down the chance to do so at some point.

Posted: 4/4/13 at 11:00amI saw this show about 2 weeks ago and I really did enjoy it. I do agree though with Alex2155 about tourists wanting to see shows with more spectacle. I used to only come in 2-3 times/year to see a show as I wasn't aware of subscriptions/ SRO etc. I know that I probably would have been pretty let down by the set had I paid full price and had it been one of the only shows I saw for the year. IMO this is a wonderful show but there are others at the top of the list for those who visit NYC only occasionally.

Posted: 4/4/13 at 11:52amI saw one of the final previews, first row with a rush ticket and I really enjoyed this show! I thought it was fresh and new and it's a shame it's getting swallowed up by the Broadway Blockbusters opening this season. I'm hoping it remains open for my visit to the city on May 18, I really wnt to take my family and friends to see it! Comps would be appreciated lol:) No that I don't mind paying, but some others in my crew do, we already opted out of Kinky Boots due to the price tag! I really like this show, and I will continue to shout it's praises!

BINGO!
That's the point....if they could market it as the "affordable" show, maybe just maybe all the cheap people in the nation would give it a try, but the premium seats (they should get rid of them) are $199, regular orchestra, $142 and mezzanine I think are $89....make them discounted at the BO, maybe folks would like that type of option.

Rush Kinky Boots while you can, $32 for great box seats. One of the queens will wink at you if you're cute

I went tonight Fri April 5 and didn't expect to like it. It's about Texans standing around a freaking truck and trying to win it. I was surprised that I kind of liked it. It doesn't seem like Broadway fair.. more regional or off Broadway. The cast was terrific across the board especially Hunter Foster, Kathleen Elizabeth Monteleone, Connie Ray and especially Keala Settle. The staging was problematic because they couldn't keep their hands off that damn truck. The story was about "real" people which is always a hard sell in musicals (Working). People go to musicals to escape and this is no escape. Not a bad night of theatre. If you like getting stuck in traffic, this is your show.

Posted: 4/6/13 at 5:53pmI saw this show on Tuesday and I must say I ended up really loving it! The staging and the choreography was fresh and inventive. The cast gave wonderful performances especially Keala Settle, she was a revelation. I really hope this show finds a larger audience and gets nominated for some Tony Awards.

Really like this show as well, made a return trip and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.
