Gee, you're not a shill.
That said, the only thing I enjoyed about Spring Awakening was the choreography.
But every single move sybolizes something going on within the charecture.
What about the part where they rub their belly in circles, or look like they have a tic, or swirl their hands around their head? "Oh, I'm hungry for love, but I don't know, my head is all in circles over my desired eroticism!"
See I knew you guys would just be bitches.
I wasn't saying anyone was wrong.
I was just bring up a point.
and by the way EVERY move sybolizes something. and no i don't know what everything means.
You guys need to get over yourselfs. These threads are dumb cause all you do is shoot people down.
You'll get far in life...
In Dr. Dolittle, there was a two-headed llama (or something like a llama anyway). It's introduced into this circus, and then does a strip tease.
"These threads are dumb cause all you do is shoot people down."
Naw, honey, that's the point of this thread. It's a WTF? thread--if you want to hear something positive, open a thread that's not about fVcked-up parts of shows...at least in our humble, not-going-very-far-in-life opinions.
The flying Hell's Angels and the mobile museum (complete with dancing statues) in All Shook Up.
The rock-concert staging of Holding Out for a Hero and the shopping cart ballet in Footloose.
Two shows with tons of potential that veered wildly off course.
I just had one of these this week. It was called Mamma Mia.

There's a specific moment in WICKED where I had that horrible feeling.
POSSIBLE SPOILER
When the trap door opens and Elphaba is alive and then runs off to live happily ever after with the scarecrow. Infuriated me then, infuriates me now.
Why did it infuriate you Roscoe? I'm curious because I've never seen the show.
Most of PASSING STRANGE.
All of GOOD VIBRATIONS. Especially the scenes where they are driving in the car and the screen behind them shows like CGI roads and trees. Mmm..not so much.
All of the current production of GREASE save for There Are Worse Things I Could Do.
When the girls in LEGALLY BLONDE turned around during the end of So Much Better with E-L-L-E W-O-O-D-S written on the backs of their hoodies.
85% of the "humor" in CURTAINS.
SWEENEY and the infamous tiny coffin.
Mister Matt, I agree with that All Shook Up moments. There's actually a lot of WTF moments in that show. Like..."Jailhouse Rock" coming out of nowhere and the stupid flames in "Devil in Disguise".
I got that moment every 45 seconds or so during Lestat.
"The manlamb in Gypsy, the Papermill production of Godspell, and Young Frankenstein."
All three of these shows used a manlamb?
The concert at the end of Mamma Mia.
Sorry dude, but I seriously doubt THAT much thought was put into the choreography of SA
John Tartaglia's accent in Beauty and the Beast.
and I wasn't a fan of (Possible Spoiler) Elphaba popping out of the trap door with the scarecrow at the end of Wicked.
and (Possible Spoiler...again) mimi waking up at the end of rent. i mean i was happy for her...but...what?
Actually, reading the BillJones interviews about the movements are incredibly interesting. And they really are all about "something".
MBN is one of my favorite numbers because of it's abstract nature.
And now back to our regularly scheduled thread:
ManLamb made me do a double take. Truly.
ALL of All Shook Up.
I agree with the happily ever ever ending of WICKED...loved the show until that moment.
BUT one of my favorite wtf moments: In "Joseph" (a musical fable for children) why OH WHY did the dancers in nude body stockings have glitter on their nipples and nether regions?
YIKES!
Watching Keith Buterbaugh's Judge Turpin in the Sweeney tour. So without energy or purpose. I'm not even sure he knew what was going on.
Watching We Will Rock You. Yes, it's a juke box musical. But Mama Mia had a more plausible (and developed) plot. And that's saying something.
Coram Boy. I still don't get it.
I dont think its good if one needs to read a book before or after to understand the choreography in a musical.

I don't doubt it at all. It's the calculated pretentiousness that really illustrates the WTF factor of that choreography. Mirror Blue Night is the funniest thing I've ever seen on stage. Like, Bet On It levels of funny.

NBT, I hated the happy ending of WICKED because I felt it was a copout. It pointlessly ignored the ending of Maguire's novel, and of L. Frank Baum's novel. It took one of the major figures of American pop culture and gave her a happy ending she has no business having.
She's the Wicked Witch Of The West. She dies. Period, end quote. Anything other than that is a cheat and a cop out to make the kiddies happy.
Yeah yeah yeah, I understand, nobody was going to want a musical that was such a total downer, it wasn't going to make any money, the kiddies wouldn't like it, blah blah blah. It's the only way the musical they decided to make of the story could possibly end, and all that. I can grasp that. It doesn't mean that I have to like it. It's like a musical of KING LEAR where Cordelia wakes up and she and Lear run away to live happily ever after. Imagine a version of SWEENEY TODD where Lucy wakes up and she and Sweeney return to Australia.
i'm with you roscoe!
Sorry, I guess I wrote that out badly. The manlamb in Gypsy is its own "WTF? moment." Luckily there were no manlambs in Godspell or Young Frankenstein, although it might have injected some laughs into the latter.
Glory Days
I'm very sorry to say this and did enjoy the show but there were a lot of WTF?? moments for me in The Homecoming. This was especially true during the second act when I think it's Lenny and the other brothers suddenly start kissing and groping Ruth on the couch.
I understand the premise of the story and how Teddy suddenly brings home this strange new woman into the house where the men are caught up in a power struggle. I understand how she basically becomes a vessel for their rivalry and that the sexual tension in their household was an undercurrent in the show. With that said, a lot of the actions seemed very sudden and I was often left going wait...what?!
Mirror Blue Night is the funniest thing I've ever seen on stage. Like, Bet On It levels of funny.
Zac Efron should be the new Melchior. That would make my life.
