I'm still torn trying to decide if I should get tickets to the closing show. I don't know if I can bear sitting through Taye's abysmal performance yet again, but this show...

I was checking the "on this day" feature on Facebook earlier, and it was a year ago plus one day that I was at Andrew Rannells' first performance. I'm glad it ran as long as it did, too!

It might be worth it to be with other fans that day? The atmosphere will probably be quite something.
Also Taye might improve a little more in the next 4 weeks. You could get a cheaper ticket so you might not regret spending tons of money on it if Taye is still disappointing for you.

From Jen Tepper's Facebook:
"When "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" closes, it will be longest running musical to EVER open and close at the Belasco. Yep- a subversive original musical just set the long-run record at a Broadway theater that's been open for 108 years! ?#BroadwayIsAlive?"

I'm skipping the show, but going to the Tits of Clay gig that night. Sort of the best of both worlds?!
According to Telecharge, there aren't even any tickets available for the final performance. Pretty dismayed, but oh well.

^oh man they must have pulled whatever was left or is super sold out because at 6pm yesterday there was still a good amount of seats.

Last night there were definitely still a lot of seats in the mezz and balcony. Just now I only saw 1 orchestra seat.
Maybe they will release a few more seats over the next 3.5 weeks.

keep checking! i thought it was sold out as well when i checked it about an hour ago, but i checked again just now and was able to get tickets in the mezzanine.
i was also torn about seeing the last show with taye (just saw him last weekend and had mixed feelings about his performance, mostly uncomfortable feelings...) but i couldnt resist... because yeah, this show..
So depressing.
You don't think there will be some sort of special sendoff for the show at the closing performance? Like when all the Hedwigs gathered for Lena's last show.
The only thing likely to join Taye on stage for his final performance is a giant cane that will yank him off stage left.
^ couldn't help but literally LOL

Never can tell. But would those 7 minutes be worth the 100 that come before it?
I'm thinking some former Hedwigs will show up and sing a song with Tits of Clay at their gig that night.

Seeing JCM's final show with the fans will never be topped as far as Hedwig final performances go. I was there and it was the most electric atmosphere I'd ever seen for a Broadway show. You could sense the love and admiration in the house for him.

Very true but it still might be special because it's Hedwig's final Broadway performance (for now). At least special enough to say goodbye to the Broadway run.
JCM's last night as Hedwig was, in my 20 years of seeing live theatre, the best evening I've ever experienced. Holding him up as he crowd surfed, hugging people I'd never met until that night, having a stranger give me a huge Sugar Daddy, all of that contributed to something I miss a lot in most shows I see : community. Instead of glaring daggers into the back of the tourists' heads in front of me while they unwrap loud candies and try to text without anyone seeing, everyone was fully THERE and fully TOGETHER and fully committed to what they were witnessing. I've never experienced a crowd collectively rise to their feet and hold hands and scream the way they did that night. I hope I get to experience something like that again at some point in the future.

To be honest, the show is so loud you simply can't hear "the tourists" (without whom the show would have closed even earlier and perhaps even with one of the stars you're not ganging up on) unwrapping their candies. There's a community of sorts that forms in every audience. It seems that what a lot of people most cherish in this case is being insiders in a community of outsiders. Thank god you still have tourists to feel better than.

Oh Namo, you're killing me. not in a good way.
Thanks to those who commented on my ticketing troubles! Later on, I was able to find some available tickets, but ultimately decided against it. Like Haterobics perfectly put it, I just can't bring myself to buy tickets for seven potential minutes that would certainly not be worth the 100 that come before it. As disappointed as I am about the show closing, it disappoints me even more that Taye will speak Hedwig's final words in the Belasco. Oh well. I'll always have the memories of my night with JCM earlier this year!
I can't believe how much I'm agreeing with Namo.

To be fair, whoever ended this run, my memories of this show were always going to be about JCM...

Righty-o, Namo. Whatever you say, dude.

This is pretty hilarious.
is there any chance JCM will step in for the final show? It doesn't seem right that Taye Diggs will close the show out. Not right at all. I'm tempted to grab a ticket... Even though I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment.
