Gotta be honest. Watching/shooting this curtain call for BWW and seeing Sondheim's face the moment they told him was probably one of the coolest moments of my life.
I can't help feeling bad for Henry Miller, I think a Theatre not named after a person would be more appropriate, but alas, congrats Stephen!

This renaming better come with a barrage of Sondheim revivals!
YES! A rep company drawn from Broadway's top talent performing in limited-run revivals of shows by Sondheim and his contemporaries.
Sort of like what we had in the summer of 2002 at the Kennedy Center.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Added bonus: Arthur Laurents spends the rest of his life knowing that NO ONE ever wanted to name a theater after him, but EVERYONE wanted a theater named "The Stephen Sondheim."
What an amazing Birthday treat for a living legend. I am beyond thrilled for Mr. Sondheim. Now just picture it: Raul Esparza in Merrily We Roll Along Opening in 2010 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Ugh the fantasy of that happening is beautiful
<------ Me and my friends with patti Lupone at my friends afterparty for her concert with audra mcdonald during the summer of 2007.
"I am sorry but it is an unjust world and virtue is only triumphant in theatricle performances" The Mikado
I can't legitimately feel sorry for Henry Miller. There have been many other cornerstones of Broadway that have lost their name over a theatre before. It is just a way of the world: Names come and names go, replaced by names more recent, more important to the current Broadway. I like the change. Now, if they were to change the Gershwin or another one that is named after people who were so important, and ARE so important, I will have something to say about that.
There are plenty of worthy people who don't have theaters named after them.
However, I don't udnerstand why that should take anything away from the fact that Sondheim absolutely deserves one, and is finally getting one. His achievements abslutely merit having a theater named after him.
Don't blame Sondheim for the fact that other worthy individuals haven't been given the honor yet.
