I have to agree with the comment about how this site keeps people who aren't in New York connected--I've never even been to New York. But I am thrilled to be able to visit and find out about shows as soon as they open, and talk with people who are as passionate about theatre--or more so--as I am.
Bravo to PJ for cutting to the chase.
And as for this:
Web theory posits that there are two types of web interactors: Mavens, who create content or provide vital information, and connectors, who provide the framework and connections around the mavens. A connector can wield as much power as a maven if the support system is good, insightful, entertaining or otherwise enjoyable.
But don't forget the trolls and bullies. Always beware of the trolls and bullies.
Trolls and bullies are bad connectors.
I think "poisonous atmosphere" is a bit of an exaggeration, but a good example of this would be when I was fairly new and posted about being excited about being able to get tickets for the opening not of HAIR. A few posters ridiculed my enthusiasm. I don't know why some feel the need to do stuff like that...I guess it makes them feel empowered or superior.
I feel empowered when talking about Bombay Dreams.
I feel empowered talking about ChiChi.

Your sarcasm is creating a poisonous atmosphere.

I think people who use multiple question marks the poisonous ones, not me.
Oh, Phyl, you are making it hard for me to play hard to get with all that grammar talk!

The BWW board is like Mikey. They hate everything. : )
You do know that makes no sense, right?

Mikey is a kid in a commercial who hates everything. BBW hates everything ...
mostly, not always, but amusing.
I got that. It still doesn't make any sense in regards to this site.

Has the board become self-aware, like Skynet? Is that how it can feel an emotion like hate?
The board weeps.

They were jealous. Unless it was the "Summer of Love" reopening of HAIR.
^ It was! His enthusiasm was ridiculous.

Sally and Phyllis, in their dresses. (Imagine how Sally would have out-dazzled her in the red one here.)
